UPDATE: Rockstar has now announced Red Dead Redemption 2 will be coming to Steam on December 5th, exactly one month after it launched on the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store.

The one-month timed exclusivity certainly suggests that Rockstar is abiding by Valve's new Steam Distribution Agreement which says that a game will be ineligible for launch on Steam if it not doesn't come to the service within 30 days of launching on other PC platforms.

That would certainly be good news for those of you who are boycotting the Epic Games Store. Being permanently locked out from Steam would certainly give some publishers and developers pause for thought.

Original Story: 04-Oct-2019 - Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC announced, launches November 5th

It’s now official, Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC and it’s coming very soon indeed.

Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC launches on November 5th, in exactly one month’s time.

Arthur Morgan's epic adventure will be coming to the Rockstar Games Launcher, and will also be available to purchase via the Epic Games Store, Greenman Gaming, Humble Store, and Gamestop.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will also be coming to PC but it won't be launching on Valve's platform until some point in December. We'd be very interested to know how much Epic had to pay for just a single month of timed exclusivity.

The PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 will include a number of features exclusive to the platform, such as graphical and technical improvements, extra weapons, bounty hunting missions, gang hideouts, and additional goodies.

If you pre-order before October 22nd through the Rockstar Games Launcher you can choose two free Rockstar games from the following:

  • Grand Theft Auto III
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
  • Bully: Scholarship Edition
  • L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition
  • Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out on PC on November 5th. The system requirements for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be revealed on October 9th, when pre-orders go live. Rockstar will also be unveiling the first PC screenshots for what should be one of the best-looking PC games of all time.

Call me crazy, but I've always rather enjoyed playing GTA and the likes on a console. Already played this on my PS4 Pro when it came out, don't see a reason to go through this massive game again for another 70 euros...

Somebody give me POSITIVE VIBES. Environment here down is getting wilder. I'M BUYING THIS GAME. That's it. I came back 2 months later here on GD and still people whine about Negative parts of gaming community. With such growth every industry has it's flaws and with it time it will be corrected but , Oh my gosh! these people down . . . facepalm

Honestly surprised by the amount of negativity. I also seem to remember Game Debate being strictly anti piracy, yet I see those comments upvoted to high heaven all the time nowadays.

It definitely is positive that this game is coming to PC and Steam, the exclusivity thing will always be a sucky situation, but luckily it's only one month now. A lot of people are just complaining in the comments that the game is exclusive for a month and about Rockstar's business plan about triple dipping all of their recent AAA titles. It's not just "whining" though, because it's people boycotting companies / things in gaming to prevent it in the future. Doing nothing or saying nothing means it won't just be "corrected" and that can be seen in other parts of gaming. Game-Debate is still anti-piracy and will always be anti-piracy. Sharing links or telling people how to pirate things on Game-Debate definitely isn't allowed. People have been talking about pirating stuff, but indirectly which isn't technically against the rules, I think, but I'll talk to the rest of the admins and Felix about it to make sure. There's still a lot of people who say they will buy the game, but when it's on Steam and that's definitely acceptable and it's their choice. I personally will buy it on Steam when I have the money for it in the future

Well yeah I have no problem with the negativity, I just didn't expect so much. I think you're right that they technically aren't breaking rules, still It's surprising how many people resort to pirating in these instances, which we know has equally negative consequences for PC players.

The negativity isn't that bad compared to other EGS exclusives this time, but most of the complaints just seem to be towards Rockstar. Piracy will always be around in gaming and there's lots of reasons for it and against it in certain situations which I won't go into. The amount of people pirating is probably higher compared to if it was released on Steam, because exclusivity removes convenience, availability and makes the game cost more in a lot of other countries. I would much rather see the game available on all possible platforms/stores, because that would allow people to get it where they want and make it just more convenient for everyone depending on their preferences.

Thing is: i'd rather not play said games at all, not even a pirated version and rather stick to any other game that deserves my attention and is not trying to shove horrible practices down my throat.

Most of us will buy the game...no doubt..but it's true that Rockstar is the worst company in gaming sale strategy...exclusive for consoles-1 year and even now..Steam 1 month later, cause of Epic store.

They've also had a few controversies relating to the modding scene which has definitely made people upset. They have corrected the situation twice though (because of the backlash) to allow mods in single player mode without banning people for it

Ok 2019
The outer Worlds, Shenmue III, Red Dead 2,Death Stranding, Bayonetta 3 (switch)
2020 Q1
Final fantasy VII Remake, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2,System Shock (Remake),The Last of Us Part II,Cyberpunk 2077.

Than there is the VOID, meaning NOTHING that is worth mentioning or that is not plagued by hybrid multiplayer/singleplayer/microtransactions/general money-grubbing games. There is nothing at least before Q2 2021 but that is a different story that i'll keep to myself with my job.

See, a month long exclusive is pretty dumb but is at least bearable.

Not gonna buy it.I'm done with Rockstar's support(it's utter crap) and I'm not going to encourage this same thing they did with GTA V,so they can really milk the game to its maximum.Unfortunately,a lot of people are going to buy it(including ones that already own it on a console) so they'll do this with every other game.

So Rockstar tries to double dip, again? And they expect i'm buying the game on full price after a year? Maybe even expect i'm buying trough EGS or their own launcher? Well not gonna play at all if that's how they treat the PC playerbase.

I'll probably buy it once it goes on a semi-sale. I wasn't one of those who was clamoring for RDR, but I'm glad it is coming for those who were.
ALSO! I find it hilarious that Epic probably paid millions so they can have the beta test version for that first month. Bc we all know that its not going to run great until a couple of patches come out. So by the time it hits Steam in Dec, the initial bugs will be gone and the experience will be better. Plus, if you've waited a year for the PC version, what's another month to play it on the better client.

What are the exact release dates per platform?

I only know it won't be coming to Steam before December, and it will release on Rockstars game launcher on Nov 5th. But what about Epic, Humble and such, which the game has been confirmed for. Any known release dates? I can only find pre-order opening dates. (Oct 9th Rockstar, Epic/Humble/Greenman Oct 22th, Google Stadia on launch date)

Now if only they could bring RDR1 to PC too but im guessing with all the engine problems it will never happen oh well RDR2 should be fun from the story/characters perspective but i dont look forward to following a yellot dot line the whole game -.- . I heard the multiplayer is much better in freedom and game design.
