The cat’s finally out of the bag, Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC. It is a fine ass game, one I’m still playing well over a year later on PS4, a truth which can only be said for about two or three other games in existence. Red Dead 2 is an open-world masterpiece, one of with unparalleled level of detail in its own world, while Red Dead Online has risen like a phoenix from the ashes and become a genuinely exciting mode in its own right.
You can see our full review of Red Dead Redemption 2 here but we said at the time that “Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't just a great game. It's a game that sets an impossibly high new bar for how open-worlds can be handled. Its depiction of late 19th-century America feels both historically accurate yet abundantly open-ended, slow-paced and yet alive, grim and yet majestic. It makes the original Red Dead Redemption feel like a warm-up, the doodles on the page before the real thing has come to life.”
It’s good. It’s very good. And it’s coming to PC very soon indeed, complete with graphical enhancements and, hardware permitted, technical improvements. At a basic level though, we’ll finally be able to use proper mouse aiming! This should ensure that PC is the best place to play Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online once November 5th rolls round.
But, the one bone of contention is that on November 5th, RDR2 on PC won’t be available everywhere. It’s launching on the Rockstar Games Launcher and the Epic Games Store. You can also pick up codes from third-party key retailers like Green Man Gaming, but the end result is you’ll still need to play it through the Rockstar Games Launcher.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Steam but there’s going to be a slight delay. Rockstar has given us a fluffy ‘December’ data for the Steam release, although we expect Epic Games has paid for exactly one month’s exclusivity. This would mean a Steam release on December 5th.
Just to make things a little trickier, Rockstar is also throwing in a bunch of bonuses for those pre-order Red Dead Redemption 2 from its own storefront. You’ll get to pick two Rockstar PC games to add to your library permanently, while pre-ordering on any platform outside of Steam will net you 25 Gold Bars bonus for Red Dead Online (trust me, you’ll need them).
The one final wrinkle is that PC isn’t the only platform on which Red Dead Redemption 2 will debut in November; it’s also coming to Google’s Stadia service, which may end up a handy alternative for folks with fast internet and lower-end gaming hardware. There are some of you out there, surely?
Taking all of these factors into account, what are your purchase plans for Red Dead 2? Are you going to hold on for the Steam release or can you just not wait? Have you already bought it on console? Are you going to skip it entirely? Get voting and let us know why below!

I'll "buy it" when some store put it for free, just like Batman collection in Epic or maybe when it costs U$S10 in bundle with a remaster of the original RDR.
PC Specs
Never going to happen. Well at least not for 15 years or so. It's a ROCKSTAR game.
PC Specs
wait for another 5 years.
PC Specs
I'll get it on Rockstar Store and on Steam later on, because l cannot wait. If anyone deserves my money it's Rockstar Games.
PC Specs
Green steam , i mean blue :/
PC Specs
Gonna buy DOOM Eternal, rip & tear through that, then pick up RDR2 on Steam after it (hopefully) gets some bugfixes n stuff.
PC Specs
I cant seem to find this info anywhere, but will there be a physical copy for PC? Does anyone know?
PC Specs
I doubt it. Even if it's "physical" it will be just a box with a code for steam or epic or the rockstar launcher.
PC Specs
That's all I need
PC Specs
Truth is all give
PC Specs
Steam for sure, when you have a large library on it with features like trading cards, achievements, and the large community, how can you not?
Though I feel like it will launch Rockstar Launcher anyway.
There is also an advantage to having social club versions though, not sure if this game has one. I preferred GTA V's social club variant.

Recently bought the game and playing on ps4 pro so I won’t get for pc. Also not sure whether my 970 will be able to handle on high settings.
PC Specs
I'm kinda interested in Google Stadia as right now I'm not anywhere near my gaming rig and it seems like a great way to access gaming easily if it works as they promise with minimal latency. However I think it's kinda obvious for pricing for AAA games like RDR2 to be a static $60 or something. (btw add Stadia as a poll option)
PC Specs
I don't buy any game that has limited time exclusivity on any launcher.
PC Specs
Imagine if all games does that. You be soon outta gaming community. ba bye
PC Specs
Simple I'm not...
PC Specs
I'm with the majority on this one.
PC Specs
I will wait...
for it to be free on epic :)
PC Specs
I'll wait til a massive PC sale on whatever store has it cheapest. Already have it on Xbox One, and I'd really only be interested in PC mods for it. Same reason I bought GTA on PC.. Mods.. Even if it moves on next Gen for RDR Online (if it gets better, which it has in the last few months), I'll still play it next gen... but hopefully it's just supported on Next Gen as backwards compatible (probably won't be).
PC Specs
Well since it will require the Rockstar launcher anyway, even if you buy it on Steam. I think i'll just buy it on release on the Rockstar store itself
PC Specs
"Waiting for Steam" for me. I'll have plenty of games to make me wait until December (The Outer Worlds, Shenmue 3 & Death Stranding).
PC Specs
why wait for steam when you will be forced to use rockstar launcher no matter what?
PC Specs
I'm kinda suprised by the votes for Epic store. Knowing Rockstar, it'll force you to use the Rockstar launcher afterwards anyways, so... why bother?
PC Specs
I mean Ubisoft does that too and some EA games aren't even on STEAM and same with Microsoft Store Games.
PC Specs
Yeah I know, and I still understand why people buy certain games on steam instead, because your friendlist is there and because it automatically launches and closes the ubi/rockstar launcher for you. But come on, who really uses the epic store to buy new games, if you're not forced to use it? I'd just get it in the rockstar launcher directly at this point.
But I'm not interested in the game at all, so there's that.
PC Specs
Not sure, if I will want to buy it on release, then likely Epic, if not, then it might be on Steam. I will just have to see how I feel about it. Between having games on all storefronts, I really don't care which one I buy it on. And this time delay is not all that long, so it will really depend on whether I get caught up in playing another game till Steam release or not.
PC Specs
I will pirate it like a boss lol
PC Specs
Pirating this game is like pirating Battlefield. You only get like 20% of what the game is offering.
PC Specs
The entirety of single player is only 20% of the experience you think? I felt like comparing apples to oranges, a SP game like RDR vs a multilayer only BF. Interesting things to look forward to when I snag the steam code for christmas.
PC Specs
I can also compare it to GTA 5 which is also made by R*. The singleplayers was a small thing compared to Online.
PC Specs
Where are GD Admins! Dial ###
PC Specs
Steam, naturally. Or Rockstar Store since it will open that one as well anyway when launching...
PC Specs
Steam or Rockstar Store I don't mind. But I will not buy it full price, I will wait for a huge discount.
