While we’re all obsessing over Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to PC, there’s plenty of life left in Grand Theft Auto V yet. Rockstar has just announced The Diamond Casino Heist, the largest, most complex heist to ever come to either GTA 5 or GTA Online.

Tying into the recently opened Diamond Casino & Resort, players will notice the presence of additional security patrols on the security floor. Something’s up, and it sounds as if that something will be ‘us’.

The remit of The Diamond Casino Heist is simple - make your way into the bowels of the most extravagant entertainment complex in Los Santos, breach the vault, snatch the money, and get the hell out of that.

So far, so simple. Rockstar has said it’s going for a more complex approach to both Heist planning and execution this time though. Players will be working with the Cheng family to figure out the best method for infiltrating the ultra-secure building, picking from a wide range of set-up and prep missions which will then directly affect how the final Heist will pan out.

“Expect outcomes for you and your crew to change on the fly as you deal with each new situation, leading to more choices mid-mission,” explains Rockstar. “Even if the best laid plans go sideways, you’ll have the opportunity to keep the mission afloat without failing by shooting your way out with your remaining team lives, all allowing the Heist to be highly replayable with new scenarios unfolding each time.”

The Diamond Casino Heist will be a free update for Grand Theft Auto Online when it launches on December 12th. The only catch is Heist crew leaders will need to set up a retro Arcade business property in order to act as a front. It’s not clear how much the Arcade is going to cost but it could be quite a speed bump if you’re short on digital dollars.

To me this game's been dead for the last 2 years, but this might bring me back. Kind of interested.
