Resident Evil 6 was released on console in October and we are advised that it will become available for PC on 22nd March 2013, in North America as a digital download, whereas in Europe the game will become available as both a digital version and a physical copy.

Lets take a look at the RE6 System Requirements which are also now available...

Resident Evil 6 Release Date and System Requirements

The digital download of Resident Evil 6 will have full support for Steam, featuring achievements, leaderboards, and cloud saving.

The game will include different updates that were brought to consoles too, with the new difficulty mode called "No hope" and the campaign of Ada Wong.

Capcom also published the official system requirements, and recommend systems running with NVIDIA GeForce GPUs "to deliver the best experience when playing Resident Evil 6 PC".

Resident Evil 6 Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz (E6600) or AMD Athlon X2 2.8 Ghz (II x2 220)

RAM: 2GB Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or AMD Equivalent

DX: DirectX 9 graphics card

HDD: 16GB Free hard drive space

Resident Evil 6 Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7, Windows 8

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.7 Ghz (Q9450) or AMD Phenom II X4 3 Ghz (X4 940)

RAM: 4GB Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Equivalent

DX: DirectX 9 graphics card

HDD: 16GB Free hard drive space

Looks like the 8800 GT is still alive and taking its place as the regular minimum requirement GPU, since Resident Evil 6 will have support for DX 9 graphics cards, hence will run even on weaker rigs than those built for great future proof.

While it's great news to now have an official release date, people waiting for the PC version still have to wait for some time.
