To follow on from our Up For Debate a couple weeks ago where we asked “what do you want for the next Assassins Creed?”, we thought we’d ask you guys about another upcoming game that is most likely in development: Grand Theft Auto 6. Or, more specifically, the online component for it.
The reason why we’re starting off with Grand Theft Auto 6 Online rather than the single player portion itself, is because we thought it would be a nice change of pace to talk about the multiplayer side of things. We’ll probably do a “what do you want from GTA 6?” a few weeks from now that focuses specifically on the single player portion, but for now we’re talking exclusively about the multiplayer.
It’s no secret that Grand Theft Auto Online is currently Rockstar’s biggest moneymaker, and considering the lucrative impact it has had on the GTA scene, we’re likely to see a newer version when GTA 6 eventually rolls out (whenever that may be). Whether you enjoy GTA Online or not, what would you like to see change in the next installment? And what would you like to see stay?
I think I can speak for everyone when I mention that solo players are a little annoyed at the continued support for expansions and DLC in the online version of Grand Theft Auto, as to this day no official DLC has been released for Grand Theft Auto 5 after 8 years (and has even seen significant backlash for Red Dead Redemption 2, which has also not had any DLC come out for the single player version of the game since release).
That said, the fact that all the DLC and expansions come free of charge to players is a nice thing, and considering Rockstar probably won’t get rid of any in-game monetization that rakes in the big bucks, free DLC for GTA Online is likely here to stay.
But what about anything else? What changes to GTA Online would you like to see in Grand Theft Auto VI? What do you think works and you’d like to see carry over? What should be improved? And how much do you play Grand Theft Auto Online at the moment? Let’s debate!

id like a bigger map with ships being more in focus

Offline only.

No idea, they will have to be very innovative if they at least want to get my attention, I am so tired of GTA V/Online that simply a graphic change and five new things added to the gameplay will not be enough...
PC Specs
Not sure I want GTA6 online, I'm not sure if I want gta6 at all.
PC Specs
offline
PC Specs
not interested in GTA in general. Rockstar is making same game for 20 years.
PC Specs
Trick question - I don't want online to begin with!
PC Specs
+1
PC Specs
F**k online. Just wanna good singleplayer, intense story with lots of side activities and no online service SP crap.
PC Specs
Don't care for online play. Just want a good singleplayer experience and good DLC for singleplayer.
PC Specs
I just hope that GTA 6 is not multiplayer only game
PC Specs
I want devs to at least announce the release date at least and why on earth we are talking about online when we don't even know when the game is going to be launched in the first place, no trailer not even a teaser, while the online itself as we know from the facts is going to take another 1-2 years to develop
PC Specs
I am simply not interested in GTA 6 online, I only care about singleplayer. As for changes, I believe it needs a lot of changes, due to its microtransaction tied nature. It really needs to go away from this huge reliance on microtransactions with progression. Of course with some other areas to improve as well. Not sure if hacking is still as prevalent as it used to be.
PC Specs
GTA Online is their cash cow. They will find one way or the other monetize it and if they dont, then gta online will not receive the updates as it will not be a worth while ROI for the workhours they put into it. Dont see that happening though as a lot of people still play it.
PC Specs
What I feel will happen, considering they split GTA V from Online, is that they likely will give Online update to VI, so they keep community and just add content. Then they will probably use some sort of way to basically reset microtransactions for new content. That way they have one online to update, even if people don't buy into new content, if it will be sold as DLC or ownership of GTA VI.

Im the only one who is not hyped for gta games anymore? To me gta4 was last game that i was interested, i completed gta5 story back when it was new and never looked back, it was decent, nice world, but nowhere near levels of gta sa or vice city or my nostalgia is too strong idk :D Actually going from gta 4 to gta 5 we lost a lot of attention to detail, maybe because of increased world size idk, but i preferred gta4 car physics more.
PC Specs
Im just wondering how many reiterations we will see of gta6?
PC Specs
Couldnt care less about gta online, dont want to grind for hunder of hours just to get an item
PC Specs
Then pay money for that item. There's nothing worth having if it's obtained in 2-3 hours.
PC Specs
I better not waste my time and money on gta online lmao xD
PC Specs
Me neither, but you wouldn't pay for an item nor grind for it. What kind of dumb easy content do you enjoy in games? It doesn't work that way.
PC Specs
@havoc92 it doesnt have to be pure grind to warrant a reward, most importantly these game like gta online are oriented to extract as much money out of you as possible so the grind is most likely unreal in most cases, which i dont enjoy
PC Specs
If SP gives me even less interiors and options and even smaller city and even worse driving and cuts even more good things from previous instalments then I will not even bother buying this game...I'll turn my gta4, SA, and Vice on instead.
PC Specs
I don't care, I just want GTA 6
PC Specs
Better connectivity and loading times. Tried playing GTA a couple weeks ago. It's just atrocious how slow it loads (on SSD), connects and getting kicked from online because it 'failed to join session'. When you finally get into a session you can't do any missions or it'll do the exact same, long loading with errors. Honestly, the majority of early access online games these days is in better shape
PC Specs
Rather they focused on the single-player characters and story of GTA6.
PC Specs
Ditto
PC Specs
For it to not exist
PC Specs
Lol that was my reaction as well. GTA5 was soulless to me, I can only assume due to the focus on the online mode.
PC Specs
Rockstar has made such a ludicrous amount of $ from GTA Online, that it boggles the mind.
While the original story of GTA 5 is great, they pretty much let things slide (as far as I'm concerned) once they saw how much $ they're making from the online part.
