The various (something)-punk genres provide different fantasies of our world. From cyberpunk, to steampunk, to biopunk, each representing different versions of our society and life. 2018’s breakout video game Frostpunk proved to be a popular hit, and developers 11 Bit Studios has officially revealed a sequel.
This week, 11 Bit Studios have been teasing fans for a new experience with the hashtag #SnowBloodOil. Some guessed a new expansion for the original Frostpunk, and some guessed a sequel. Well, the developers have now officially revealed that it was a tease for Frostpunk 2 all along…
The announcement trailer doesn’t give away much, but we know that it is set 30 years after the end of the first game. However, although humanity has managed to survive (just about), the age of coal is gone, giving rise to a new age of oil:
“You play as the leader of a resource-hungry metropolis where the expansion and search for new sources of power is an unavoidable reality. After the age of coal, conquering Frostland for the oil extraction industry is expected to be the new salvation of what’s left of humanity. However, change does not come easily, and not everyone in this new multi-layered society will welcome this new direction.”
Unfortunately we don’t yet know when Frostpunk 2 will be released, as according to Jakub Stokalski, Co-Director of FP2, the game is still “pretty early in development.” However, we do know that Frostpunk 2 will build upon the systems established in the original game, and won’t just be a bigger game, but a broader game too.
What do you think? Are you excited for Frostpunk 2? Did you play the first one? What improvements or changes would you like to see in the sequel? Let us know!

This new GD site is taking some getting used to, but it has some upsides. However now i'm seeing tons of ads, including pop-up ads, even though i'm a supporter? Is this a mistake?

I just reported this to a developer. Hopefully it'll be sorted out soon

Thanks, it seems fixed. I did however get a 500 server error when trying to log-in (though it still logged me in, after refreshing, anyway)
