If you’ve been following the excitement for the next Battlefield game coming out in just a few months, then you’ll know there have been a few spots of contention. Most notably, the absence of a single player campaign, which has always been a point of controversy in first person shooters where the multiplayer is much more popular.
Despite that, many fans have been asking for a story campaign in Battlefield 2042, and whilst we definitely won’t be getting one, EA is still keen to tell a story in the multiplayer world. And if you’re a fan of the Battlefield series, you may notice some familiar faces and hints towards other recurring characters.
So it looks like BF2042’s story will be told outside of the game, at least from what we can tell so far. Short film cinematics, an interactive story map on the official website, and some blog posts all flesh out the world of Battlefield 2042. A pity we won’t be able to experience some of these story beats in-game, but maybe most players won’t really care that much.
What do you think? Are you excited for Battlefield 2042? What did you think of the short film? Are you interested in the story of BF2042? Would you have liked a single player campaign as well? Or are you not bothered? Let us know!

Such a shame they didn't include a campaign. As much popular multiplayer is, a single player campaign with good story is also an essential part for a videogame.

No singleplayer? Another soulless addition to the gaming world, I guess.

To me this seems about as useful and functional as the stories in p0rn movies xD
