Blizzard's iconic Diablo 2 is getting a much needed glow-up soon, with updated graphics and controls to bring the classic into a more modern setting, and some lucky fans have gained early access to the Open Beta recently before it opens up to more players on Wednesday. But how well does Diablo 2 Resurrected perform? And what kind of hardware is needed to play it at its best? We take a look at the PC performance benchmarks for Diablo 2 Resurrected Beta...
First of all, in this PC performance benchmark article for Diablo 2 Resurrected, we benchmark a range of graphics cards going from the higher-end RTX 2060; the mid-range GTX 1060 which is the recommended GPU; and to the lower-end R7 370 which is close to the minimum required GPU.
Then we go through the FPS test results of each graphics card running at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. From there we can see the performance of the minimum and recommended system requirement graphics cards and consider how well optimized Diablo 2 Resurrected really is.
Diablo 2 Resurrected unfortunately does not include an in-game benchmarking tool, so for these results we started the run in one of the opening areas of the game, exploring the area and fighting some enemies. Considering most of your time in D2R will be spent doing exactly that, we found this benchmark run to be pretty representative of the overall gameplay experience.
With that in mind, let's jump into the PC performance benchmarks for Diablo 2 Resurrected...

Conclusion
Taking a look at the results above, we can see that Diablo 2 Resurrected is relatively demanding at higher resolutions and graphics settings. However, most mid-range hardware should be able to play D2 Resurrected at 1080p on High graphics settings, like the recommended GPU, a GTX 1060.
Lower-end hardware might have a difficult time though, as frame rates are pretty low on anything but Low graphics settings, sometimes even unplayable. If you want to play the Diablo 2 Remaster at its best though like at 4K resolution, you will need some very recent or higher-end hardware in order to do so.
It is worth noting that this is still a Beta for Diablo 2 Resurrected, and an Early Access version of that Beta as well. Therefore, performance may improve upon launch in September. Additionally, drivers will likely come out around that time too for more optimization on modern hardware.
Another thing worth mentioning is that D2 Remaster is relatively difficult to get a consistent benchmark run since levels are randomly generated with new layouts and enemy locations. As such, performance may vary on hardware depending on your location and which area you are in, so keep that in mind when referencing your own hardware.
As always, we welcome any and all feedback from you guys as well with your experience of hardware configurations and FPS performance/quality settings. That way we can all better gauge how well our systems will be able to run Diablo 2 Resurrected.
