Yesterday was the official reveal of the next Call of Duty game, and just like last year the reveal event took place within the popular free-to-play Battle Royale spin-off known as Call of Duty Warzone. Since the reveal, there has also been a bunch more information detailed about the upcoming title, which should have fans excited if they were disappointed by last year’s entry in the franchise.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is launching on November 5th. The reveal trailer confirms the recent leaks that COD Vanguard would be set around WW2. It also confirms that an Open Beta is planned before release and those who pre-order will get Early Access, though it will come first to PlayStation. Along with the official reveal Activision gave us some more details about the upcoming shooter, including a single player campaign, 20 multiplayer maps at launch (much more than Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War), and a Zombies mode developed by Treyarch. The launch will also coincide with a new map in Call of Duty Warzone, as well as a new Anti-Cheat system.
Speaking of Warzone, Vanguard will be using the same engine as 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - unlike 2020’s Black Ops Cold War - to allow for a more seamless experience between the titles. Plus, the Gunsmith and Caliber system will be more advanced this time round, and a new game mode is being added known as Champion Hill, a sort of evolution on the original Gunfight mode.
We’ll likely hear even more details leading up to the game’s launch in November. If all goes to plan, Vanguard should come out in a much better state than COD Cold War, as it was previously reported that Treyarch had to rush their title out a year early since Sledgehammer Games was struggling with theirs, hence the abundance of maps and more seamless experience between other Call of Duty titles.
What do you think? Are you excited for Call of Duty: Vanguard? Did you watch the reveal live in Warzone? How do you feel about returning to the WW2 setting? Let us know!
