Elden Ring leads the Gamescom 2021 Awards nominees

Every year, Gamescom doles out some awards for some of the most anticipated games coming out later in the year or even next. It may be questionable among fans considering they are essentially just another way for publishers to advertise their games, but they do at least offer us some insight into what might be shown off.

With that said, Elden Ring is leading this year’s Gamescom awards with 5 nominations already - Best PC, Best Xbox, and Best PlayStation Game (which seems like cheating to me), as well as Best Action-Adventure, and Best RPG. The numerous nominations strongly hint at more Elden Ring being shown off at Gamescom 2021.

You can catch the Gamescom Opening Night Live event on Wednesday August 25th at 11am PT (2pm ET / 8pm CEST) where some of the winners will be announced. Most of the rest of the winners will be announced on Thursday and Friday, and a few on Sunday, so keep your eyes open!

Obviously not all nominees are listed since Gamescom hasn’t officially started yet, so expect to see more nominees after Opening Night Live tomorrow when we get even more game reveals and announcements. But without further ado, here are the Gamescom 2021 Awards nominees...

They really should rename it to "Pre-order-com 2021 Awards"... I mean seriously, how can game get awards without it even being released. Only reward it should be able to apply for is "most anticipated unreleased game" or "best announced unreleased game". This is just huge marketing move that really devalues any sort of awards they give. Since anyone can essentially advertise you this huge bag of air and empty promises and get award for a turd they will end up releasing months latter. Or just fakes you gameplay section and tells you it is very broken, because it is still in development, CDPR did a ton of that.

It`s not out yet? For at least 5 months? Why would it be included in the nominees other than trailer award...?

Ain't the future jolly? We can launch broken and unfinished alpha games and we can sell brand new games that no-one has seen (beyond NDA deals), already bearing heaped awards. I wonder the money that goes into this. Haha 💰️

Awards for things that haven't come out. Pointless marketing BS.
