Forza Horizon 5 Gamescom 2021 trailer shows off the first 8 minutes of gameplay

One of the most anticipated games of the year, revealed during E3 2021 a few months ago, is the upcoming Forza Horizon sequel by Playground games. During the Gamescom 2021 Xbox stream, the developers showed off some new trailers, including the first 8 minutes of gameplay as well as the official game cover cars.

If you’ve enjoyed the Horizon series so far, then Forza Horizon 5’s opening should not disappoint. The opening of the game starts with the 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands - one of the cover cars featured below - dropping into the game literally via airdrop in the snow-capped Gran Caldera volcano. Followed by several other cars in more of the iconic biomes of the game, before racing to the start of the festival.

It’s quintessential Forza Horizon, showcasing the various cars and environments players can experience in the upcoming sequel. From a dust storm in the Mexican farmland, to the dense jungle tree canopy, all the way to the beginning of the festival itself. But along with the Ford Bronco mentioned above, Playground Games also revealed the other car featured on the game’s cover: the Mercedes-AMG ONE.

There’s no denying FH5 looks stunning, as its depiction of Mexico remains diverse and with a lot of attention to detail. Playground Games mentioned this is their biggest and most diverse map yet, 50% bigger than Forza Horizon 4 and including 11 unique biomes that each change with the various seasons. We still don’t know the full PC specs, but we at least know the minimum system requirements.

What do you think? Are you excited for Forza Horizon 5? How do you feel about the game’s opening? And what is your favorite Forza Horizon game/world so far? Let us know!

What do you think of the Forza Horizon 5 opening?

Which cover car are you more excited to drive?

Just might be me, but if I watched the opening here - I feel like I'd miss out on the fresh wonder when I buy the game. Maybe for some people it would incentivise more sales through hype, but for me it would just kill the sense of discovery. So I won't watch any of this and keep it fresh for myself. I am definitely waiting for this to drop, though! Had tons of fun with FH4 - these guys seem to know their stuff 👍

I've had a metric ton of fun with FH4. I wasn't expecting it, since NFSU2 is also my fave arcade racer (and I get to build a mean ricer while I'm at it! xD), but it delivered. It's a different experience from the night city streets of NFSU2, but it's a LOT of fun - I definitely recommend picking it up before they axe the sales due to the LiCenSes expiring....

I will take your word on FH4. The more I see of FH5 the more I feel like playing it. I think I will get this one instead but yeah I plan to pick up either FH4 or 5.

Well, if FH4 wasn't good - then I wouldn't be excited for FH5 😜

IIRC, Tzzsmk was the one who recommended it as a game to fill that NFSU2 void (he loved that game as well). NFS Heat is also alright and lets you build a proper ricer car with crazy visual mods, but the story and characters are pure douche-ville grade. If not for the cops and the dumb story - it would have been a decent successor to NFSU2 :D
