Far Cry 6 PC system requirements are quite demanding, requires beefy PC to play at its best

We are just under a month away before we can start exploring the island of Yara, and thankfully Ubisoft has finally revealed the official PC system requirements for Far Cry 6. As is usual with Ubisoft games, they've given us an extensive amount of specs to choose our quality settings from, including 1080p, 1440p, 4K, with ray tracing on or off, as well as the performance each one will achieve.

Most notably, Far Cry 6 seems to be a pretty demanding game, and that's without ray tracing enabled already. If you're rcoking some mid-range hardware, then expect to get just below 60fps at 1080p, depending on your graphics settings. If you really want to play FC6 at its absolute best though, you will need some beefy graphics power.

There is a saving grace though: Far Cry 6 will include AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) - which Nvidia GPUs can also use - and the below specs are calculated without FSR enabled. So after enabling FSR, you should be able to get a slight boost to performance depending on your hardware and level of quality.

Lastly, FC6 on PC will include many PC-specific features, such as: uncapped frame rates, in-depth customization options, hybrid input and extended control customization, multi-monitor and widescreen support, an in-game benchmark tool for performance analysis, and of course ray tracing and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution support.

SO let's dive in and take a look at the official Far Cry PC system requirements...

Ray Tracing OFF:

Far Cry 6 minimum system requirements - 1080p / 30fps / Low settings

Far Cry 6 recommended system requirements - 1080p / 60fps / High settings

Far Cry 6 recommended system requirements - 1440p / 60fps / Ultra settings

Ray Tracing ON:

Far Cry 6 recommended system requirements - 1440p /60fps / Ultra settings

Far Cry 6 recommended system requirements - 4K / 30fps / Ultra settings

Far Cry 6 requires a GTX 1080 or RX Vega 64 graphics card paired with either a Core i7-7700 or Ryzen 5 3600X processor in order to reach the recommended system requirements, delivering 60fps performance at 1080p resolution on High graphics settings. Your PC will also need at least 16GB of RAM.

Far Cry 6 needs a GTX 960 or RX 460 GPU along with a Core i5-446- or Ryzen 3 1200 CPU to run the minimum system requirements. With this setup, you should achieve at least 30fps performance at 1080p resolution on Low graphics settings. You will also need at least 8GB of system memory.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Far Cry 6 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarks and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Far Cry 6 GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Far Cry 6 Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

im kind of glad that games are becoming more demanding. it does seem since the gtx 1070 I got i have not felt any NEED to upgrade my card. in fps games where i need alot of frames... i get welll more than my 144hz monitor can handle.. in story driven graphic intensive stuff (not really sure what has come out recently that i would even count as this since like most my friends on discord their doesn't seem to be !^%# to play) i get 100 fps or so.

i thought i would of had a 3070 for $400 on black friday sale but then the ongoing chip shortage has extended itself to over a year now at this point...

i would like to upgrade my general gaming experience to 144hz/1440p.. but not like there is a huge urge for me to do this esp with cards being priced where they are at.. hell i might just be looking at gtx4070 by the time i upgrade...

in short up till like 2018 games felt like they were getting more and more impressive graphics wise even if being help up by old consoles.. i am/was hoping the new console generation would allow for another leap in that graphical fidelity.. but i just haven't really seen it other than Demon's Souls on ps5.. which with all those other SONY games may make it's way to pc anyways..

I don't want to set the world on fire

I just want to start a flame in your heart

In my heart I have but one desire

And that one is you

No other will do

When I read the headline I thought, here we go again. Another game with crazy high min system requirements. To my surprise at least the min sys req are attainable, anything beyond that tho

I'm honestly very happy that I got a good rig before prices for hardware went rampant . I can't wait to get a 2k monitor.

### GTX 1080 for 1080p/high/60 fps ? Yeah... beefy indeed. When you see the actual price of GPU and the recent recommended system requirements for AAA games, it's enough to make you feel demoralised if you don't have the latest hardware...

True, tho IMO there are plenty of great games from 2010 - 2020 that aren't melting hardware but still look great.

Should you find yourself in a situation where you can't play the newest game, take a look in the past and you may find a hidden gem.

Graphics looks almost the same as FC3, but sestem requierements are waaay higher..

What are you talking about? What mental gymnastics you have to pull off to say that a game from 2012 looks anything like a AAA 2021 game?

Sure, they may share a few same animations here and there, but the graphics in Far Cry 6 are way beyond anything Far Cry 3 could ever hope to be

Yeah, I get the hate but let's not act like we're blind - FC6 is objectively WAY nicer-looking. And I've actually tried FC3 not too long ago on new hardware.

So Ultra settings aren't for people who play at 1080p?

exactlly my thought, its not the first time they show it like that 1080p high and then jump to 1440p ultra

I haven't played 1080p since 2015, so I couldn't give poop about that res and 1440p is the bare minimum I'd accept, but it would still be good to have a more comprehensive list.

That's bs. The game doesn't even look that good even with RT on for it to be that demanding...

Yeah, having the VRAM - the texture pack is a must. FC5 already had one and it's great 👍

Yeah...I've seen all of them...so far this is the most demanding game there is.

If I need an RTX 3070 to be able to play at 1440p with RT it is bs.

Not BS at all. Raytracing can be 1000s of times slower than raster hacks - that's why raster was invented in the first place! The fact that we can have even these isolated layers of RT in 2020+ real-time on a single GPU is a miracle. Understand the tech and you'll understand that A) we're not using RT properly yet (no hardware fast-enough for that) and B) the fact that you get this much fidelity on a single card is not BS at all. I do 3D for a living, btw.

to be fair RT at 2k, everything at ultra settings can be quite demanding, i have that gpu and ithe medium and cp 2077 gives my pc a hard time with everything enabled at 2k, let alone 4k, thats where DLSS perf comes in handy. Also it isnt weird the game is asking for a 70 series to play at 60 fps 2k ulra settings, if i remembner correctly far cry 5 was asking for a 1060/1070 top run at those settings back then, but now we have RT and better texture resolution.

Oh yeah, when I tried CP myself - I had to stick to 1440p ultra + RT + DLSS Quality to have a good image at decent fps. That game absolutely hammers even a 3090 when RT is on...
