Sony blew everyone away when their first announcement during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 event was confirmation of an official KOTOR remake. The announcement has a lot of fans excited, especially since it has been rumored for a few years already, but PC players may have to wait a little while after PS5 players.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still pretty early in development, hence why all we’ve seen so far is a brief teaser. But in a recent blog post, Ryan Treadwell, the Lead Producer at Aspyr Media, confirmed that the Knights of the Old Republic Remake is “a console exclusive on PlayStation 5 at launch.

That means, yes, it will definitely be coming to PC at some point after launching on PlayStation 5, but we don’t know for how long. Optimistically we might be looking at anywhere from a few months to a year after the PS5 launch. But in all honesty it could even be years before the KOTOR Remake comes to PC judging by Sony’s current track record with PC ports.

What do you think? Are you excited for the KOTOR Remake? What improvements would you like to see made over the original? What are your worries? And how do you feel about it being a timed exclusive? Let us know!

Are you excited for the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake?

Its a serious sin that Kotor will release first on PS5 and PC maybe a year later?!

Very disappointed.

The base platform was for PC....

I'm not gonna post any further before I say things that I'll regret aftwards, seriously angry...

I'm an old time player so keep that in mind.

I'm open for necessary newer adjustments but for PC.

To rewrite the story of KOTOR is like to rewrite the Divine Comedy of Dante, i should be spaced only for thinking it.....

The paranoia in these comments, KOTOR was already woke, it literally introduced the first gay Star Wars character ever, The story isn't being rewritten entirely, that's a complete fiction. The "problematic" writer isn't even the lead writer. KOTOR not being her favourite game is not the equivalent of hating KOTOR. Please people, get your news from sources other than twitter and idiots like TheQuatering.

As long as the changes make sense it's fine. Having a gay character does not make a game woke, but have a look at Mass Effect instead. The original trilogy had gay, bi and all types of characters but it all felt in place and ordinary. Now look at Andromeda and you will see the feminist/woke influences. Every single badass person is a woman (even the leader of the krogans, an animalistic society with alpha males and harems), and all men in positions of power are either stupid, evil or cowards; except maybe the MC's dad. Even overlooking the themes, the writing of that game is atrocious, with numerous plot holes and forced cringe inducing humor.

I guess we'll know how good the new writer is when the game comes out, but I don'r have much hope.

See you're actually being reasonable. My point being is that it pushed "woke" ideologies already, that was just an example. As well as KOTOR, you've listed three games where these themes are used and are done well, and there are dozens of others. Andromeda and a handful of other games being poorly written shouldn't outweigh that. I'd also like to point out that she isn't credited for working on Andromeda. All this aside, she's not the lead writer. The extent of her involvement is a complete mystery as is the extent of what will be rewritten, which is in all likelihood only minor things. I just think the hatred being directed at this woman based largely on lies is gross. Even if she likes the sequel trilogy, which is a cardinal sin.

Didn’t they confirm it’s day 1 on PC too?

Console exclusive generally means no simultaneous XB/PS release

If it's anything like VII R they will prolly just keep postponing the pc release. Guess the future will tell.

"PlayStation 5 as a console exclusive at launch and to PC" is what's on everything but the PlayStation blog. To me and most other reports it sounds like a simultaneous release.

I am going to put it this way, I am still looking forward to see more of it. Despite new writer being bit of a concern, since remake to an extent should still feel like source material and negative attitude towards that is maybe not best thing, But we will see. It is pointless to argue about bunch of unknowns. In the end, as always people, don't pre-order and keep hype in check. Hopefully it turns out good. Otherwise, there still is original and we can just move on, regardless of how much that would suck.

Well, I suppose we just shouldn't get overhyped for an inevitable retcon pile of garbage, right?

Ahhhh great, re-write the story huh? its probably gonna be another "woke" star wars project. Welp, and there goes my hype for the game. Disney crapping on Star Wars, AGAIN.

I'm seriously hoping they won't change too much. All of the new star wars projects (except Mandalorian imo) were definitely a let down. So much potential wasted.

if they are rewriting the story then it's not the same game... they literally should not be allowed to call it a remake of KOTOR

Indeed, They should have made a new game in that era if that is really what their purpose is.

They're rewriting the story completely and the new writer apparently doesn't like the old game at all, probably didn't even play it properly either.

If she didn't like the original then she's an uncultured swine, but if this remake is also good then why not...

I'm excited but cautious. I heard they're rewriting the story and the person rewriting it... let's just say doesn't seem to be fit for the job.

She mentioned a ton of times that she didn't like the old game or Star Wars. Seems really concerning for fans of the original.
