It seems to be Delay Day as Creative Assembly recently confirmed that their upcoming Strategy game Total War: Warhammer 3 has been delayed until early 2022. Now the Polish developer Techland has also confirmed that their upcoming, highly anticipated, zombie parkour game Dying Light 2 has been delayed again until February 2022.
“The team is steadily progressing with the production and the game is nearing the finish line. The game is complete and we are currently playtesting it,” said the Dying Light 2 developers. “It is by far the biggest and most ambitious project we've ever done. Unfortunately, we've realised for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimise it.”
Dying Light 2 is now launching on February 4th 2022. Of course, this isn’t the first time that DL2 has been delayed, as it was originally supposed to launch in early 2020 before getting pushed back to December 7th 2021. It may seem like a long time because of the new year, but it’s actually only a 2 month wait now.
“We are sorry to keep you all waiting a little longer, but we want the game to meet your highest expectations on release and we don't want to compromise on this,” the statement continues.
Many of us would rather see a delayed game than a broken game released too early. However, the sad reality is that too many games recently have been released in a poor state even after being delayed multiple times. Not trying to be pessimistic here, but we should probably keep our expectations low when it comes to a final release date for Dying Light 2, just in case it gets delayed even further.
What do you think? Are you excited for Dying Light 2? Do you think it will actually release in February 2022? And do you think it will actually release in a decent state? Or will it be just as broken as other game releases of late? Let us know your thoughts!
