Despite the prevalence of consoles, and the enormous popularity of the next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft even in a global pandemic, it seems like there are more people than ever moving to the PC platform to play their favorite games. So in honor of this newfound influx of players, what games do you think are a must play for first time PC gamers?
Ideally we’ll get a whole mixed bag here, as not everyone can afford a high-end gaming PC their first time. There are budget gamers, mid-tier gamers, and enthusiast gamers who buy the latest and greatest no matter the price. Either way, there’s a lot of games out there to play on PC for the first time if you’ve been a console gamer, and not everyone can play them.
So if possible, let’s all try and recommend at least two games to new PC players: some classics, and some that really showcase the power of a PC just in case there are some out the3re looking to take their shiny new system for a ride.
For me, I will always recommend the grand classics of our time like the original Deus Ex or Dragon Age: Origins to get that true, authentic PC gamer experience, and discover a world of games outside the console ecosystem.
Then again, I would also recommend Cyberpunk 2077 yet again (bugs aside) as it is one of the only games you can play at the moment that really shows what a high-end PC can do in comparison to a next-gen console. And of course, there’s always competitive multiplayer titles to see what the whole fuss is about when it comes to keyboard and mouse controls.
We’ll likely see an overlap here of a recent Up For Debate we already did (what was the first game you played on your first PC?), since they both touch on the same kind of subject. However, this time it’s directed at recommendations for new PC players instead.
So what do you think? What games are a must play for first time PC gamers? What games do you think best show the PC’s strengths? And what game genre do you think best encompasses the quintessential PC gaming experience? Let’s debate!
