It’s no secret that the upcoming Saints Row reboot - which was officially revealed during the Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live ceremony - has garnered a bit of controversy. Fans of the old characters and story are a little more than skeptical of the new game, but the developers have thankfully answered a lot of burning questions from fans.

Everybody loves The Boss and the old characters of the original Saints Row games, but the new Saints Row title is rebooting the franchise with a new cast of characters and locations. This has seemingly struck a nerve with some hardcore fans, but hopefully the developer’s answers will be able to curb some of that skepticism.

First of all, one of the biggest controversies from the reveal trailer was character customization, as some fans thought the new cast of characters meant no more signature customization. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth it seems: “We have the most in depth character creator in any Saints game. Create who you want,” the developers said.

Adding to that, there will be a total of 8 voices you can choose for your character including 4 male and 4 female voices. And on the topic of customization, layered clothing is also making a return to Saints Row. Plus, you can customize gang members who join your syndicate throughout the game.

As for the reason that the developers chose to reboot the series?: “We love them too!” the developers said, in response to a question about the old characters. “After the events of Saints Row IV, their story is complete, there was nowhere left to take it after exploding the world. We wanted to create new characters and a new world.

Vehicle customization is also back, and is apparently “huge” in this game. There’s also fully untethered cross-gen co-op, and you can expect the usual “signature Saints Row gameplay.” If you want to read the rest of the Q&A, you can check out the full list here on Twitter, with more details revealed in this blog post.

What do you think? Are you excited for the Saints Row reboot? Have these answered some of your burning questions? Are you more or less skeptical about it now? Let us know!

But we already have Fortnite with all its customization. We don't need another but a proper Saints Row which isn't Fortnite would be nice.

so this game is named "saints row"? ahhh yes, the best naming scheme ever, when they decide that numerical system isnt good enough so they start over 😃😃

which is how the reboots are usually named, the worst is when the new games are called like the old ones for example Doom (2016) and God of War (2018) which are not reboots but continuing of the story yet they are called same as the first games of the franchise

"which is how reboots are usually named" fair enough, though it would still be best to name it slightly differently to differentiate them regardless if they are sequels or not, its just poor naming scheme. Something like "saints row reloaded" or just literally "reboot" addition would be much more reasonable imo. it can get really infuriating and the saddest part is not only games are guilty of this, movies do it as well :/
