It seems like everyone is hungry for a brand new MMO as the new title from Amazon Games officially launches today. Despite not having a unified launch across the world (instead opting for a morning launch in all major regions, except Australia) it has seen massive amounts of players flooding into the world of Aeternum, and it’s still growing fast.
Currently, as of writing this article, there are 618,534 amount of players in New World right now according to SteamDB charts, constantly breaking the all-time concurrent player peak. There’s no signs of slowing down right now, which just goes to show that Amazon’s MMO is proving to be a pretty popular title.
What’s more, because of the morning launch in major regions (except Australia), most of these players are actually from Europe, and we’re expecting a big bulk of players to come in the afternoon in North America. Even though the morning launch means we won’t see hundreds of thousands of players in-game all at once, we could be heading to Cyberpunk 2077 territory here.
All of this is to say that New World is clearly very popular, but whether Amazon’s investment has actually paid off we’ll have to wait and see after the first week or so and see how players are feeling about it.
What do you think? Are you excited for New World? Will you be playing it later? Have you already been playing it? What do you think of it? Let us know!
