Are you ready to venture into the world of Aeternum? Amazon Games' highly anticipated MMO has just launched, and whilst the queue times are pretty dire, we at least have some FPS performance benchmarks to cover so you can see how well your own PC setup might fare in this pretty good looking game...

First of all, in this PC performance benchmark article for New World, we benchmark a couple graphics cards going from the higher-end RTX 3070; to the mid-range GTX 1060 which is just above the recommended GPU. Since queue times are very long at the moment in New World, we wanted to give you guys these initial benchmarks on some mid-range and higher-end hardware first.

Then we go through the FPS test results of each graphics card running at 1080p, 1440p and 4K screen resolutions. From there we can see the performance of the minimum and recommended system requirement graphics cards and consider how well optimized New World really is.

New World unfortunately does not include an in-game benchmarking tool, so for these results listed below we started in one of the early open areas of the game, running around and killing some enemies. Since most of your time in New World will be exploring large open environments with lots of areas with enemies to fight, we felt this run to be pretty representative of the majority of your gameplay experience in New World.

With that in mind, let's jump into the PC performance benchmarks for New World...

Average FPS for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 in New World @ 1080p

New World Low Medium High Very High
Average FPS 106.8 84.3 81.6 75.4
Min FPS 83.6 60.3 57.3 16.7
Max FPS 132.1 109.4 113.3 105.1
1% Low FPS 53.1 44.3 38.8 3
0.1% Low FPS 19.9 24.3 12.9 2.4

The FPS performance of the RTX 3070 in New World at 1080p is pretty good, achieving over 60fps performance even on Very High graphics settings. However, the issue of stuttering - which can be seen in the 1% Low and 0.1% Low FPS results - becomes more prevalent the higher the graphics settings. Nevertheless, the RTX 3070 is perfect for playing New World on Very High graphics settings at 1080p resolution.

Average FPS for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 in New World @ 1440p

New World Low Medium High Very High
Average FPS 105.7 83.4 81.4 71.2
Min FPS 76.3 43.9 47.7 37.9
Max FPS 145.9 117.9 103.2 108.5
1% Low FPS 31.1 13.6 14 5.3
0.1% Low FPS 14.9 4 5.8 3.1

The FPS performance of the RTX 3070 at 1440p resolution in New World is still pretty good, once again delivering more than 60fps performance at Very High graphics settings. Though, again, the stuttering appears the higher the settings, though this time is worse due to the higher resolution. Still, the RTX 3070 is perfectly suitable for playing New World on Very High graphics at 1440p resolution.

Average FPS for Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 in New World @ 4K

New World Low Medium High Very High
Average FPS 74.5 60.6 57.5 50.7
Min FPS 52.5 9.9 33.7 27.6
Max FPS 91.1 74.8 71.5 63.2
1% Low FPS 10.8 1.5 6.7 4.3
0.1% Low FPS 8.2 1.5 4.5 2.9

Finally, the FPS performance of the RTX 3070 at 4K is not too bad, as even though it achieves less than 60fps on Very High graphics settings, New World does not need to be played at 60fps in order to feel comfortable and enjoyable. Therefore, the RTX 3070 is perfectly suitable for playing New World on Very High graphics settings at 4K resolution. Though, once again, the stuttering returns and, again, is much worse due to the higher resolution.

Looking at all the results above, the RTX 3070 is perfect for playing New World on Very High graphics settings at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. Though the latter does not achieve 60fps on Max settings, but New World is still enjoyable and comfortable to play even at sub-60fps. However, stuttering gets worse the higher the graphics settings and resolution.

Average FPS for Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 in New World @ 1080p

New World Low Medium High Very High
Average FPS 91.4 73.2 69.3 54.8

Max FPS 98.5 83.6 74.7 69.1
1% Low FPS 51.6 2.1 13.8 2.5
0.1% Low FPS 33.2 2.1 6.1 2

The GTX 1060's FPS performance in New World at 1080p resolution is pretty goof, achieving more than 60fps performance up to High graphics settings, whilst dipping just under 60fps on Very High settings, though still certainly playable. Overall, the GTX 1060 is perfect for playing New World on Very High graphics settings at 1080p.

Average FPS for Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 in New World @ 1440p

New World Low Medium High Very High
Average FPS 59.1 48.3 44.6 38.4
Min FPS 45.1 2.7 27.5 25.7
Max FPS 65 53.9 50.1 45.3
1% Low FPS 15.4 1.8 13 3.8
0.1% Low FPS 6.8 1.8 8.4 3.8

The GTX 1060's FPS performance at 1440p resolution in New World is okay, though still very much playable up to High graphics settings. The GTX 1060 then is perfectly suitable for playing New World on High or Very High graphics settings at 1440p.

Average FPS for Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 in New World @ 4K

New World Low Medium High Very High
Average FPS 29.1 24.4 22.4 16.4
Min FPS 20.8 20.4 20.4 0.6
Max FPS 31.9 27.5 24.4 22.3
1% Low FPS 14.4 10.7 20.4 0.6
0.1% Low FPS 4 5.5 12 0.6

Finally, the GTX 1060's FPS performance in New World at 4K is not great, dropping below 30fps even on Low graphics settings. Here, it was uncomfortable to play, as even on Low settings certain areas would dip and affect personal in-game performance. Therefore, the GTX 1060 is not recommended to play New World at 4K resolution.

Overall, looking at the results above, the GTX 1060 is perfectly suitable for playing New World on Very High graphics settings at 1080p resolution, and even on High or Very High graphics settings at 1440p depending on your preference. At 4K though, the GTX 1060 was almost unplayable even on Low graphics settings, and so is not recommended at this resolution.

--------------------

Conclusion

Looking at the benchmark results above, New World clearly has some issues with stuttering though that can be attributed to a new launch and unoptimized performance/at capacity servers. Nevertheless, it still performs really well on average even on mid-range hardware.

For instance, the GTX 1060 is able to play New World at 1440p on Very High graphics settings and still be considered playable and comfortable to play. This is because New World does not necessarily need to be played at 60fps in order to feel comfortable to play, though higher performance on lower settings/resolution is still ideal.

If you want to play New World at its best then you will need a decently high-end GPU like an RTX 3080 to likely hit 60fps on Very High graphics settings at 4K resolution. Though, as it stands, an RTX 3070 achieves just below 60fps on the same settings and is still playable, so it won't need to be very high-end to be comfortable.

There is a problem with stuttering though, as can be seen in most of the 1% Low and 0.1% Low FPS results and even the Min FPS at times. This does not affect enjoyability that much, but can be irritating for some and will certainly become more noticeable in more graphically intense environments.

Additionally, whilst the majority of your time in New World will likely be taking place in large open environments, some areas like towns will include many more players and can significantly affect performance. Unfortunately, there's no easy one-size-fits-all solution here, and you may need to turn down your graphics settings in areas like these to have a more comfortable experience.

Lastly, New World is suffering significantly from long queue times which can often take hours to enter into a server. With that in mind, we thought we'd at least share these initial benchmarks so you can see what performance is like on a range of hardware going from some top-end specs like the RTX 3070, to the mid-range GTX 1060 which is still the most popular GPU for PC players.

As always, we welcome any and all feedback from you guys as well with your experience of hardware configurations and FPS performance/quality settings. That way we can all better gauge how well our systems will be able to run New World.

Foodle is a word-guessing game for those who love or have knowledge of food. The game only offers one puzzle per day and challenges players all over the world. Each player will have a total of 6 guesses to find a mysterious 5-letter word. Clues will appear through each guess if matching letters appear. Players can rely on the color of the tiles to make the next guess.

That likely explains the stutters (0.1%/1% lows) and the bitlife difference between 1080p and 1440p, to be completely honest.

been playing for 33hrs now, games brilliant. in town can get laggy when there's like 60 people running around you but passed that its been pretty much butter smooth for me. login was a pain in the rectal cavity yesterday but in the passed 14hrs over 30 new EU servers opened up and seems to no longer be a problem. my rig is consistently pully 120-190fps dependant on how many other players are around

like seriously, that probably explains the stutters (0.1%/1% lows) and the small difference between 1080p and 1440p
