Developer Playground Games has finally given us the full, updated system requirements for the next Forza Horizon game launching on November 9th. Unfortunately, for those who were excited for the previously revealed minimum specs, they have since been upgraded to be a bit more demanding than we initially thought.

Previous specs for Forza Horizon 5 were actually quite lenient for low-end computers, but the ceiling has been slightly raised since then. Instead of needing a GTX 650 Ti or R7 250X graphics card, you will need at least a GTX 970 or RX 470 instead. Additionally, there are also some 'ideal' specs likely for ray tracing or 4K gaming.

With that said, let's take a look at the official Forza Horizon 5 PC system requirements...

Forza Horizon 5 minimum system requirements

Forza Horizon 5 recommended requirements

Forza Horizon 5 ideal requirements

Forza Horizon 5 needs a GTX 1070 or RX 590 graphics card paired with either a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 1500X to meet the recommended system requirements, which should then deliver around 60fps performance on High graphics settings at 1080p resolution. You will also need at least 16GB of RAM.

Forza Horizon 5 will need at least a GTX 970 or RX 470 GPU along with a Core i5-4460 or Ryzen 3 1200 CPU to meet the minimum system requirements, which should then achieve around 60fps performance on Low graphics settings at 1080p resolution. 8GB of system memory is needed at minimum.

Overall, looking at the specs above, Forza Horizon 5 will need around a 5 year old PC to play at its best.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Forza Horizon 5 System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarks and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Forza Horizon 5 GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Forza Horizon 5 Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

That look goooood! That look so goooooood! I am more excited each time I see a new trailer for this. Can't wait to get into racing games again.

And the reqs bump is no biggie considering sh!te games like Blood-fcking-hunt requiring a 3080.

What do they mean by ideal requirements? 4K with ray tracing?

Guess I'm gonna trash my CPU then xD

I have seen people with your cpu upgrading to a 5800x and 5900x and they noticed far more fps and better 1% lows, also paired with 3080/ 3090, so you will benefit a lot by upgrading that CPU.

I bet, but the difference is that I play at high resolutions, like 4K, 5K, etc, so I try to make sure my GPU is used 99% as it should be. Though I did run into a couple of games, one of which was Cyberpunk, where the CPU was definitely holding me back now.

Yeah cyberpunk is really demanding, idk why the requirements for cpu are that low, my CPU really struggles in some areas to get low 40s because of this, even tho my CPU never gets past 50% in those moments, but i guess it is the slow IPC fault.

Well, CPUs seem to have a nice bump in the upcoming gens from both Intel and AMD, so maybe that's the time to update for me. It's been long-enough :D

the 3090 isn't bottle-necked by your CPU?

A little bit, but it's all a matter of perspective. I barely ever play at 1440p, let alone 1080p, so it really isn't an issue in anything else other than Cyberpunk, which is where I noticed my GPU not being utilized. It may have been fixed by now, I only tried the day1 version...

I kinda hoped it would take longer for my 3080 to be in game's hardware requirrements (even if in the highest tier) of non raytracing games lol.

Anyway, I'm super excited, I probably have over 500h on FH4, great game for relaxing and listening to music. 😁

I agree on the music aspect - it's certainly one of the better soundtracks in a racing game. NFS Heat has such a crap one that I outright turned music off completely so that I can play something in the background (like the NFSU2 soundtrack xD)

nice spread between low and ideal. something to hopefully push graphical fidelity and something for the older hardware too

in vast majority of cases official system requirements have been BS, so i wouldnt care about this too much, better wait for youtube tests/benchmarks

The ideal req looks like for raytracing, but i dont know if the game will have it

It's been said numerous of times already that ray tracing will be in FH5 but only in the autoshow/forza vista mode

Is this game coming to Xbox One? If yes then how are they going to run it on that system if these are the minimum requirements to run this game.

No, no, no

Why??? it was GTX 760 as minimum!!!!!!!!!!

970 is kind of between the 780 and 780ti.

its about that there wont be driver updates to support the game properly on release. doesnt mean those gpus wont work. it just means they wont work at their best.
