Amazon's highly anticipated MMO finally launched this week to major popularity, but has been seeing extremely long queue times due to the large amounts of players trying to get in, and to those who did manage to get in we've seen that it's a relatively demanding game. But what about each individual graphics setting? Which ones have the biggest performance impact? And which ones can we turn on or off with little to no FPS or quality loss?
In this article we will take a look at which New World graphics settings are the best to turn all the way up to Ultra and which ones can get us a little FPS boost for no real visual loss when we turn them off or down. We've compiled a list below of the most demanding graphics options in the game, so you can get a handle on what to expect when you adjust different graphics settings in New World to get the perfect balance of visual fidelity and FPS performance in game.
Below you will see every graphics option listed and benchmarked against a minimum graphics setting used as our baseline benchmark for New World. From there we see which graphics options have the highest performance impact on our hardware for the least visual improvement, and then we will see which options can be turned up to max and deliver the best visual improvement in New World.
If you want to look at some more graphics benchmarks with various gaming graphics cards running New World then you can check out our New World PC Performance Benchmarks article instead, or you can have a look at the various New World PC Graphics Settings that we'll be discussing here in this article.

New World PC performance report and graphics card benchmarks
For the performance cost result baseline we used the recommended GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, an Intel Core i7-3770K processor, and 8GB of memory. To standardize the benchmark tests they were all carried out in one of the opening areas of the game, where we moved around the area and killed a few enemies. We found this run to be pretty representative of the experience in-game, when considering graphics options compared to other graphics options and their relative performance impact.
There's not that many graphics settings available in New World, so we went through the 8 graphics options (including the 2 ray tracing settings) listed and tested each one in turn, recording the average frame rates for each and then comparing them to a baseline FPS that was recorded with all the graphics options either turned off or to their lowest settings.

New World Graphics Options Performance Breakdown
The further to the right the bar goes, the more demanding the graphics option is.
What are the most demanding graphics options in New World?
As you can see in the FPS performance cost above, there aren't a whole lot of very demanding graphics settings in New World, but there are a few worth mentioning like Terrain Details at an 8.64% FPS performance cost, followed by Texture Details at a 7.28% FPS performance cost, and then Shadow Details at a 6.79% FPS performance cost.
If you want to squeeze out some more FPS in New World then those 3 settings should be your first priority in turning down as they are the most demanding graphics options in New World. The rest of the settings are very low in FPS performance cost, but are still worth noting:
The next most demanding graphics option is Objects Details at 2.84%, Post Processing Details at 2.35%, Effects Details at 2.1%, then Water Details at 1.23% and Lighting Details at 0.86%. These settings you will be able to turn up High or even Max without seeing much of a performance cost in FPS.
Other than that though, there really aren't that many graphics settings in New World and not a whole lot which are very demanding. Hopefully this graph will help you to prioritize which ones to turn down first to get some more FPS without much visual quality loss, and which ones you can turn all the way up with little to no impact on FPS performance.

Conclusion
New World graphics settings performance results and conclusion - Overall, looking at the results above, New World does not have a lot of graphics settings to choose from, but there is at least a decent range of quality options so that we can still get the perfect balance of image quality and FPS performance.
There's only a few graphics settings in New World that really stand out as the most demanding, like Terrain Details at an 8.64% FPS performance cost, followed closely by Texture Details at a 7.28% FPS performance cost, and then finally Shadow Details at a 6.79% FPS performance cost. These specific settings should be your first priority to turn down if you want to get some extra frames.
The rest of the graphics options are very minimal in their FPS performance cost, but are still worth mentioning: Objects Details at 2.84%, Post Processing Details at 2.35%, Effects Details at 2.1%, then Water Details at 1.23%, and Lighting Details at 0.86%. These settings you should be able to turn all the way up with little to no impact on FPS performance.
If you are struggling to get some extra FPS though in New World, consider turning down the Player Nameplate Amount setting as this can cause significant FPS loss depending on your CPU. Additionally, performance tends to drop significantly in areas with high player density like towns, and so you may have to turn down some settings/resolution in order to get playable performance in these areas.
Finally, New World also includes support for Dynamic Resolution Scaling, so if you are playing on higher resolutions like 1440p or even 4K, consider turning this setting on if you are experiencing issues with performance as it will dynamically adjust the game's resolution scale to get the best performance.
Apart from that though, there isn't really much else worth mentioning when it comes to the New World graphics settings and their various FPS performance costs. It's a surprisingly demanding game when all settings are used together, but individually there's not a whole lot under the hood which can help to improve frame rates significantly without losing much image quality.
And that's it for the most important graphics options in New World! As always we're now passing it onto you guys! We would love to hear your thoughts on what graphics settings you turn all the way up in New World for little to no performance impact, and which options you turn down to get some extra frames so we can all benefit from better performance and image quality in this good looking and very popular game!

When developing your content strategy, it’s important to consider the types of content that will be the most effective for your target audience. For example, if your target audience is tech-savvy, then creating an e-book or video tutorial may be more effective than an article or blog post.
