Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Castlevania reportedly being revived by Konami

Konami has had a reputation for ruining beloved franchises in favor of chasing the money, but a new report suggests that after several commercial failures, the studio is now more open to outsourcing IPs to other studios, including some major revivals reportedly in development like Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Castlevania.

We’ve heard many reports that Konami is outsourcing their beloved IPs to external studios, but the new report comes from a leaker with a known track record for confirmed leaks, and this time includes the three big IPs from Konami like Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania. The report even mentions that projects for all 3 IPs are currently in development.

The report claims that a Metal Gear revival is currently being worked on by Virtuous, which is a support studio that has worked on many high profile titles before. The project is apparently very early in development and is “centered around” the fan-favorite Metal Gear Solid 3, which could mean anything at this point. But the report also mentions remasters of the original games will launch before the new project’s release.

The Silent Hill project was apparently outsourced to an external Japanese game developer earlier this year. This seems to be the second of 2 new SIlent Hill projects that Konami has apparently greenlit, the other one is supposedly being developed by Bloober Team (creators of Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, and The Medium).

Lastly, the Castlevania project is apparently a revival of the series being developed by Konami’s own Japan studio. There’s little details of what this will be like though, and whether it will be in the same vein as Lords of Shadow 2, or a completely new style or even a remake of one of the original games.

Konami is expected to officially announce these new projects during major shows next year (2022) as they pulled out of E3 2021 this year due to some issues with “timing”. However, they did confirm at the time that they had “a number of key projects” in development, all of which could be referencing the above 3 projects.

What do you think? Would you like to see revivals of Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Castlevania? How do you feel about them being outsourced to external studios? Do you have more faith they can be done well? Or do you think Konami will pull another Metal Gear Survive? And which series revival would you most like to see? Let us know your thoughts!

Which series would you most like to see a revival from?

I expect that without Kojima the quality of those games would be on par or worse than Metal Gear Survive 😂

Should have added the option Neither. Make a new IP for f sake. I hope that in their efforts to milk MGS and the rest they don't create an abomination.

I really hope Konami outsources development. and stays as far away from development as possible. Then we might actually get some excitement. Yes, MGS would need Kojima, but lets face it, when was Konami above doing one without Kojima,... But at least with third party developers those IPs would at least stand a chance.

No Kojima, no new MGS.

Perhaps Rising Revengeance 2, that game's all about the satisfying combat, I doesn't necessarily need a killer plot.

I don't keep tabs on what he posts, but I remember numerous times where he was more optimistic about something than me lol. This is konami we're talking about, though...so positivity will be...lacking...to say the least 🤣

Yeah man I remember those times as well where I was always rooting for the game to be good. But yeah thanks for bringing context to my comment as it is konami we are talking about.

But yeah I am just on a bit of a sarcastic run is all. Some people take it way too seriously

Given that Konami will certainly butcher these games, turning them into "pay to win" gambling simulators, why should anyone be optimistic?

I don't know. Will you ever stop sucking? 😆

You walked into that one mate. That's not on me. But here is a more civilized response unlike your comment. People try their best to be objective when expressing opinions. Key word being try. People are always affected by a plethora of factors which do cause the slightest of deviations. In simpler words it could just be that someone is feeling cheeky, sarcastic, joyful or down. But who am I kidding? This is just going to enrage you more as that is how the internet works.

Also you do realize you can just ignore my comment and not interact with me at all? Just saying its an option as well.😀
