And that’s another one to add to the pile, as From Software has just announced that their upcoming Action RPG has now been delayed by a month. However, this isn’t all bad news for players, as a Closed Beta test will begin in November, allowing fans to play the opening area of the game to test some technical facilities.

Elden Ring will now officially launch on February 25th 2022. However, a “Closed Network Test” will take place on the weekend of November 12th-15th for console players. The reason for the delay is apparently because "the depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations.

Currently, there is no indication for PC players to become a part of the Closed Beta, but from the sounds of it there won’t be much we’ll be missing out on: “Selected fans will be able to experience the opening hours of the long-awaited title to get a hands-on glimpse at what the full game will have to offer while assisting the development team in testing the games online servers ahead of its release date.

It is unfortunate though, and hopefully Bandai Namco will open it up to PC players as well at some point. The Closed test itself will take place for only 3 hours each day on the weekend of November 12th-15th, and is so far also only available for those living in Europe. You can sign up for the Elden Ring Closed Test here, but here are the official test times:

  • November 12: 12:00 to 15:00 CET
  • November 13: 4:00 to 7:00 CET
  • November 13: 20:00 to 23:00 CET
  • November 14: 12:00 to 15:00 CET
  • November 15: 4:00 to 7:00 CET

It was almost bound to happen, but the fact Elden Ring has only been delayed by a month is quite a miracle considering it has been teased for years without a proper release date. Again, hopefully the Closed Beta will open up to PC players as well as those outside of Europe, but at least we don’t have to wait too long for the launch!

What do you think? Are you excited for Elden Ring? How do you feel about the delay? Will you be taking part in the Closed Test? Let us know!

Will you be taking part in the Elden Ring Closed Test?

A leaker said they were holding onto the Blodborne remaster for PC/PS5 because they didn't want it to coincide with Elden Ring's Launch, so maybe it has something to do with that, or the game is simply going to take a bit longer

Not on PC? Its probably in rough shape and they can;t control the experience as much. Reality is and will always be the lowest common denominatolr will always decide the rate of prgoress and in every era it has always been consoles. I know its not realistic but PC just needs to untehther itself from companies that treat it as second fiddle.

Saw someone mention that reason for console-only test could be data mining on PC

Then they should figure out a way for it not to happen. These are billion-dollar companies and chickening out of doing extra work by alienating an entire community of gamers isn't the best way.

If you re-read what you wrote, you'll realize that you're advocating for a more aggressive DRM/anti-tamper on PC here for the sake of playing an early beta version of a game. Really..?

The *actual* best way is to not give a crap and wait for release (and THEN some). I know, FOMO is a b*tch, but come on...

Nooooooo! But I can wait, so they should take their time and make a masterpiece once more.
