Halo is one of the most recognisable first person shooter franchises out there, and one of its co-creators has now launched a new studio with Electronic Arts, specifically focusing on developing FPS games. There’s no details on what their first project is, nor what the new studio is called, but more information is coming soon.

Marcus Lehto was Art Director and co-creator of the Halo series back in the original days for the first 3 games, and now they’re working as Game Director under the new studio: “Hey everyone, I’m very excited to announce that I’ve joined @EA as a Game Director, building a new studio in the Seattle area working on first-person games. I can’t wait to share more about what we’re creating!” he said in a statement online.

We’re opening another new studio near Seattle that is part of the EA Studios organization, reporting into Vince Zampella’s organization,” said an EA spokesperson. “Marcus Lehto will be the studio’s game director, focused on developing first-person shooters. We’ll share additional details on its future at a later date.

It’s an odd move given that Lehto’s latest venture didn’t exactly go very well. After establishing V1 Interactive in 2014, their first and only game wasDisintegration, which unfortunately was met with poor reception and the studio eventually shut down not long after. Hopefully whatever Lehto is working on this time will get better reception from fans.

What do you think? What could Lehto be working on at EA? Do you think it will be another sci-fi shooter? Another odd hybrid of genres? Let us know your thoughts!

What kind of FPS do you think the new studio will make this time?

The geadline sure had a roller-coaster effect on my emotions. Excited when I read the first part of the headline and hit a low when I read the ending of the headline.

Also I voted Other because the type of 'game' that EA will coax him into making will be a Destiny / Anthem spin-off live-service. Just my opinion but I am probably 83% correct.

It's EA so no matter what it is it will be monetized to the max or the usual buy extra stuff or grind away. No thank you; plenty of other games coming.

Lets hope he is part of the new direction that got us Fallen Order and not old one that gave us Anthem.... Still don't trust EA they can make good games and not turn it into microtransaction extravaganza you pay 60EUR/USD for base version to play.

Well, with EA's involvement, I have no interest in this project.
