Square Enix recently announced a new Action-Adventure game following the Guardians of the Galaxy characters, and its launching in just under a week’s time. The developers then released the official PC system requirements which required a staggering 150GB of disk space, but thankfully that will be split in half at launch.

According to the developers, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy will now take up around 80GB on PC instead of 150GB. It’s unclear if the initial specs released were simply rough guidelines, or if the reveal of the system requirements sparked an urgent response from the developers. Either way though, 80GB is much better.

Hey everyone! We wanted to give you an update on the final size of the PC version of the game, which will not be 150 GB,” said the official Guardians of the Galaxy Twitter account. “The team is in the last stages of optimizing the final game and we can confirm the file size will be approximately 80 GB at launch.

If the specs were completely wrong though, then that means we might see some updated requirements, hopefully with a bit more hope for low-end players as the original specs required a GTX 1060 at minimum. Some might not call that demanding, but when the still-most-popular GPU amongst PC gamers is the minimum requirements for a game (likely for a 1080p, Low settings, 30fps experience) we think that’s surprisingly quite demanding.

So what do you think? Are you excited for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy? Was 150GB way too much before? How do you feel about the storage size getting cut in half? And do you think the initial specs were wrong then? Let us know!

How big is your main source of storage on PC?
