God of War early graphics comparison video highlights visual differences between PC and PS5

Sony recently made a surprise announcement that the next PlayStation exclusive title coming to PC would be the latest God of War game. The PlayStation 4 title was also updated to support the latest generation PlayStation 5 consoles, and a new graphics comparison highlights the visual differences between both versions.

The comparison comes courtesy of Cycu1 on YouTube once again, who noted that this is simply an “early” graphics comparison for God of War and so the PlayStation 5 footage was captured from their own gameplay on their channel (hence why it is only 30fps for PS5 footage, plus a couple instances of using different skins).

There doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of differences between the PS5 and PC version of God of War. Apart from the usual higher resolution textures and shadows, the only major difference is contrast and saturation. The conspiracy theorist in me wants to say that Sony is subtly trying to say the PlayStation version is more vibrant (and therefore better), though it’s more likely to be due to the fact that PC gamers usually play on a monitor, whilst console players usually on a TV.

What do you think? Are you excited for God of War on PC? How do you feel about the visual improvements in the PC version? Do they look better? Or worse? Or not much different? Let us know!

Do you think God of War on PC looks better or worse than PS5 version?

the bigger difference is if you play on my 4k HDR 144hz asus rog swift PG27UQ monitor compared to any 4k tv major difference

What i'm worried about is optimisation. Console ports don't exactly have a good rep so day one purchase is out of question.

day one purchase is out of the question for all games nowadays, at least for me.

They look pretty close to me, which just shows how good current gen consoles are. But still, PC will have benefits of higher framerates and likely higher resolution textures. Still, game looks great, so I definitely am happy with that and didn't really expect much more. Can't wait for release to play it.

Honestly they look the same, only difference is on PC its running in smooth 60fps and supports actual native 4k resolution (which eliminates the jaggies quite well). I would say the PC version is the BETTER version, not neccesarly the better looking one, graphical fidelity is overall exactly the same. STill I'm looking forward to this and I hope the original series follows suit. I'd love to play GoW Ascension, couldn't play it on the PS3 because it ran pretty poorly.

So it's basically like any game these days - better framerates (because 60 isn't the limit for PC, even if some people still forget that) and the rest is the difference between high and ultra settings, AKA - small differences that don't matter that much but hog extra performance.

As much as I want God of War on PC (and this Dad of Boy installment will have to do) - it won't be a day 1 purchase, simply because Horizon took a while to get significant patches out and I'm not expecting it to be any different here. It's just the state of gaming these days - the *real* launch is 6-12months after the paper date as far as I can tell.

I was noticing PC was blurrier than ps5, maybe because they have DOF enabled and motion blur?, also noticed minor changes in armor materials on Kratos, maybe to differientiate between the ps and the pc version?

Dude, I played Horizon after they did their final patch and I still had problems. I'm not expecting a top notch port anytime soon from playstation.

Well it could just be that Guerrilla games just had a tough time with their port. Still hoping for the best.
