Last year, as Microsoft was gearing up to launch their new next-gen consoles, known as the Xbox Series X and S, they also debuted the first proper gameplay for their upcoming next Halo game. It was supposed to launch alongside the consoles last year but was delayed due to multiple reasons, one of which was likely negative feedback regarding the game’s graphics.

That was a pretty big deal considering Halo is one of Microsoft’s biggest IPs and is usually launched alongside a new console to boost sales. Since then, Halo Infinite has undergone some graphical changes, and with the latest gameplay trailer giving us another look at the campaign, we can easily compare how the visuals have improved since last year.

Thanks again to ElAnalistaDeBits on YouTube for putting the comparison video together and highlighting the biggest changes and improvements to Halo Infinite. As you can see, a lot has changed visually, but is it actually better? Was the delay worth it? Now we want to pass it onto you guys and hear your thoughts!

So what do you think? Are you excited for Halo Infinite? How do you feel about the graphical improvements since last year? Do you think they look better? Or not much different? Or do you even prefer the old style? Let us know your thoughts!

Imagine they never delayed the game though. It would've been a clusterf*ck

Especially the mouth, the lips lack creases and the teeth look very unrealistic and clean compared to the rest of the face

Seems like MS did listen and changed things according to feedback. I always love to see that. Plus it definitely helps it feeling current gen, opposed to last gen. So thumbs up for that.

The improvements are definitely noticeable. That said the 2020 version didn't look awful, I could've played with those graphics. But I guess since its flagship IP it needs to WOW people. Wish they'd launched with co-op though; I'm unfortunately not touching Infinite until I can play with my buddies (as per tradition since Halo CE).

I don't think the issue was as much with graphics being straight up bad in old trailer, most of us could have played that just fine. But I think most people took issue with it feeling like it was game from previous generation. In time when we just got new generation of consoles and on Xbox side, we are lacking games that would actually show off next gen capabilities. With this being first party title, I think people had high expectations for it to show off what Series X can do, not just look like Xbox One title with compatibility patch to Series S/X. And since people got sold the idea of buying XB SX/SS on them being higher performer, I can see why people were disappointed. Especially since this isn't some small development studio, but rather first party with a literal ton of funding and that was the best they could do(?). Like if anyone, MS should have biggest interest to give you great games and ones that will convince you that you really need Series X/S, not just selling you Xbox One titles at 60FPS..
