Sony has recently started a big push to port their popular PlayStation exclusive games to the PC platform, to the joy of everyone. But so far they’ve been pretty quiet and slow with PC releases, but keep reiterating their commitment to the platform. Now Sony has taken the next step to their PC gaming commitment by changing their PC publishing name.

Originally, games like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Days Gone were published on PC under the name ‘PlayStation Mobile’. However, that name has now changed to ‘PlayStation PC’ instead, signifying a stronger commitment to PC gaming. It’s not much at the moment, but it definitely shows that Sony is in it for the long term.

According to The NPD Group’s research, around 1/3rd of PC players own a PlayStation 4, and only 8% own the new PlayStation 5. That means there’s a significant market open to PC players, and will unlikely actually affect console sales. So it’s clear that this isn’t just Sony experimenting for a bit to see what happens.

Of course, we don’t know exactly what’s coming next, but so far we’ve had only 1 game per year coming to PC, and then all of a sudden we already know 2 PlayStation titles coming out next year: God of War and the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. In addition to acquiring Nixxes Software - a PC porting studio - it looks like 2022 could be a big year for PlayStation games on PC.

What do you think? Do you like the new publishing name? Do you think we’ll see more PlayStation games coming to PC next year? Will Sony actually be in it for the long term? Or do you think this is still just a short-term experiment? Let us know!

Do you think 2022 will be the biggest year so far for PlayStation games on PC?

I think Sony's strategy is to release most of their games when they start new generation. Like they started releasing their ps4 games after launching PS5 except Horizon zero dawn and may be death stranding (correct me if i am wrong) to attract pc gamers who dont wanna wait for games to release on pc after 3 to 4 years so they get a PS5. I can wait so i will wait and this time for the first time i dont have a plan to buy ps5 or atleast i will wait until 2023 to see of they release any ps5 game on pc.

just imagine bloodborne at resolution higher than 1080p at 60 (hopefully even more) fps!

I sold my PS4 with all games except Bloodborne in hopes of playing on the PS5 (which I can't find for a normal price) but tbh I'd rather get it on PC.

If this is how they're pushing back on Microsoft's Game Pass and "Play Anywhere", its weak sauce. That said, it's better than nothing. And yes I will get God of War on PC.
