Every year sees another multiplayer shooter released to the world, with the classic flagship/annual releases of Battlefield and Call of Duty, to another competitive multiplayer shooter looking to be the next Counter Strike or Apex Legends. Either way, there’s a lot of multiplayer shooters to pick from these days, but what is the best multiplayer shooter of 2021?

However, within the past month we have seen 3 big franchises returning with their latest multiplayer outing, with the likes of Call of Duty: Vanguard, Battlefield 2042, and Halo Infinite Multiplayer. So after a bit of time to play each, we wanted to know which one you reckon is the best of the bunch!

On top of that, there are many other competitive FPS games out there with another successful year in the bag, and with their ongoing service still looking strong, we also wanted to see which one is your favorite at the moment and how have they improved (or even worsened) over the last year.

It’s a good time to be into multiplayer shooters though, at least if you look at it a certain way. There’s so many options to choose from now it can be hard to navigate the waves and not get swallowed up in the storm. Then again, many of these latest have launched in pretty dire states for fans, so maybe it hasn’t been all too good over all. Either way we want to know your thoughts!

So what do you think? What is the best multiplayer shooter of 2021? What has been your favorite flagship/annual multiplayer shooter? What is the best competitive FPS at the moment? How often do you play multiplayer shooters? And do you often buy the battle passes or cosmetics? Let’s debate!

What is the best recent flagship multiplayer shooter?

What is the best competitive FPS in 2021?

How often do you play multiplayer shooters?

Do you normally buy the battle pass or just some cosmetics in games that offer them?

The only reason CSGO remains on top is, because it doesn't require to have some good machine to play it on, just for casual gameplay., other than that, game is silly.

Still playing Apex. Nothing else does it for me, really.

BF2042. I did give Halo a try, but it was just a dumb game.

Funnily enough, it's Battlefield 2042 for me personally. Even if it is in a really bad shape, it still delivered the most fun I've had with a shooter in the last couple of years. The core gameplay just works.

BF3 in Portal is pretty cool. It is the closest we'll get to a remaster and the visuals + audio with the new movement mechanics really elevates it.

But you can set that the teams are only BF3, you can remove all BF2042 elements if you want.

Uhhh Halo infinite has been out for a couple weeks... I think that'll end up taking over this year

Just realized that made no sense, shouldn't wake and bake before reading lmao.

But yeah Halo is the big one this year for sure, which sucks because I really wanted 2042 to live up and beyond the hype

I really enjoy the Halo multiplayer. It's fun to play, well-paced and the online is solid.

I like CoD but Vanguard doesn't bring much new to the table and I don't like the world wars setting.

I find BF 2042 extremely disappointing. It's a regression from the previous games in almost every way and it's very buggy.

So this year, for me, Halo multiplayer is the best. It's a beta but it feels more polished than Vanguard or BF 2042, wich says a lot...

Yeah, AAA games that take 5-6 years to develop always end up great, compared to games that take 2-3 years to develop, especially Vanguard which was scrapped, re-done and in the end it is a worse MW2019.

I play multiplayer shooters usually a few days a month, used to play a lot more, but I used to have "all the time in the world". Shooters are my least favorite genre, so they get the least amount of my time, though I haven't got my wheel with me right now, so racers get none.

Out of the big three, this year specifically Halo won. Halo Infinite > Call of Duty Vanguard > Battlefield 2042 and the later two's problem is that they shouldn't have came out this year, simple as that, otherwise they have the potential to being equal if all three are at their peaks.

Out of the competitive shooters, I'd go for Halo Infinite again. Yes it has competitive, with ranks and everything.

CS:GO and CS as a whole has never been a game I understood why people love so much, my friends included and I've been playing since 1.4. Probably because it runs on toasters and it's very easy up until the top-end of skill.

Battle Royale is not a good competitive game mode. Valorant is similar to CS,

Overwatch is a very good competitive game and great game overall, but way too heavily team based for my linking.

Rainbow Six Siege has great core gameplay, but it's ruined by design choices and map design, I used to love it very much in the beginning.
