These days there are a lot of things going on in the digital world, more specifically with NFTs at the moment. Though only popularized relatively recently, Ubisoft has already decided to jump on the wagon by adding official NFT items to their games this year, starting with their most recent Ghost Recon title.

Ubisoft Quartz was officially announced recently as a place for players to buy and sell NFTs that can be used as digital items in various Ubisoft games. So far, the only game announced to support it is Ghost Recon Breakpoint, with support for more games coming later. It will launch in Beta tomorrow (December 9th) for select regions.

Ubisoft Quartz will only be available in the US, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Australia, and Brazil, when it officially launches. There will be 3 drops of free items for GR Breakpoint on December 9th, 12, and the 15th. So far, the announcement has been met with overwhelming backlash from the community for various reasons.

What do you think? How do you feel about Ubisoft adding NFTs to their games? Could it actually turn into something unique and interesting? Or is this just a blatant cash grab from the studio? What other games would you like/not like to see NFTs added to? Let us know your thoughts!

Do you think NFTs in video games are a good or bad thing?

Would you be interested in owning a unique NFT item in Ubisoft games?

At least they're doing it in a game that no one played at release, let alone now. And also, !^%# Ubisoft.

Ubisoft is absolutely fcking dumb as a doorknob. They do realize the whole point of NFTs are toi be decentralized unlike Quartz which is very much the opposite of that.

If you read the youtube comments, the overwhelming majority are in agreement that this is a scum cash-grab move, but there are a few nft-bros trying to defend it and it's hilarious how clueless they are 🤣

Right? I mean you would think people dealing in decentralized blockchain-based economy would realize that this is just scummy and stupid. Ubisoft is really starting to bother me by its very existence now because of the way they handle anything and everything ranging from spoiling some of my favorite games to their stupid services and trend-chasing. I hate EA but I really can't stand Ubisoftr anymore.

Im yet to understand how giving out NFTs in comparison to the usual tradable item system benefits the developers in any way.

They can sell you a numbered hat for more money under the guise of an "nft" and because they're doing it on a closed system (the quartzzz) - they get a nice slice from every transaction as the nft dorks (many of whom are "between jobs", from what I've seen) speculate and create a bubble. This way ubicrap can have a fat cake and eat it with glee.

You won't get the money in your bank account, right? You can't sell them and spend that cash elsewhere, right?

Is it like the knives from CS:GO?

Because it sounds a lot like that lol.

Obviously a cash grab, but if people stopped caring about all of the skins and some of their outrageous costs in CS:GO then I think we'll be alright ;)
