God of War PC system requirements will not require a Godlike PC in order to run

It's not much longer now until the PlayStation exclusive God of War from 2018 is making its way to the PC platform, and lucky for us the developers over at Santa Monica Studio have revealed the official PC system requirements for the game - as well as other PC-specific features - and thankfully won't require a god of a PC to run.

God of War is finally coming to PC on January 14th 2022. The specs below don't seem too demanding, and thankfully they also include some handy performance expectations for each spec. It will also include support for both Nvidia DLSS and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR).

Additionally, the PC version of God of War will also include support for Nvidia Reflex, as well as enhanced graphics like "higher-resolution shadows, improved screen space reflections, enhanced Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion (GTAO) and Screen Space Directional Occlusion (SSDO)."

Interestingly, God of War includes a graphics preset called "Original", likely referring to the original graphics quality of the console version and presumably replacing Medium settings. You don't usually see this in a console port, so it's nice to see how much the graphics quality has actually improved in the PC version.

With that out of the way, let's take a look at the official God of War PC system requirements...

God of War Minimum system requirements - 720p/30fps/Low

God of War Recommended system requirements - 1080p/30fps/Original

God of War High system requirements - 1080p/60fps/Original

God of War Performance system requirements - 1440p/60fps/High

God of War Ultra system requirements - 4K/60fps/Ultra

You will need a Core i5-6600K or Ryzen 5 2400G processor paired with a GTX 1060 or RX 570 graphics card in order to run God of War at the recommended system requirements. You can expect to achieve 30fps performance at 1080p resolution on the Original graphics settings with this hardware. 8GB of RAM will also be needed to reach the recommended specs.

God of War needs a graphics card that is at least as powerful as a GTX 960 or R9 290X GPU coupled with either a Core i5-2500K or Ryzen 3 1200 CPU to match the minimum system requirements. This setup will then deliver around 30fps performance at 720p resolution on Low graphics settings. System memory for minimum is 8GB as well.

Looking over all the specs above, we suggest at least a 4 year old PC in order to play God of War at its recommended settings.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the God of War System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarks and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the God of War GPU benchmark chart and we also have a God of War Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. Too often we see the "recommended" requirements end up being closer to the minimum specs.

It seems that these requirements are quite realistic and for once makes sense (most of the time). So yeah its nice seeing an actual detailed system requirements and not something just to have printed on the box/description.

Reasonable requirements but i'm more worried about optimisation.

Pleasantly surprised by the reasonable system requirements.

Such teams that develop games can be thanked again and again, simply because they value everything, unlike other teams of Ubisoft a lot of money and can do nothing but make super requirements, however I will try it with phenom ii x4 955 and graphics card 960, maybe it is acceptable to play, I also think that it can work on less graphics cards

Why an ssd required? Wasn't the PS4's storage an hdd?

SSD is recommended. I'm sure most if not all games going forward are going to recommend an SSD. Way of the future I suppose.

It's not required, just recommended, so you dont wait ages to load your game... "Ages" though, a minute or two...

You fast travel 30 times and you've wasted an hour while I waste 5 minutes. If you don't have better things to do with your time - sure, but I can't stand modern games on HDDs...

SSD for massive games is a must and has been for many years now, IMO. I couldn't stand waiting for minutes at a time for every loading screen, I value my time more xD

What I meant is, why they would recommend it at all if the game has a single load screen into the game if all the PS4s had hdds? would it have texture streaming problems on PCs with the game installed on an hdd or would that indicate bad optimization? Because I have experienced bad ports like that with RDR2 where the game IS one an ssd and has texture streaming problems everywhere while the base last-gen consoles were flawless

The good thing is this game is using DLSS and FSR so i bet the requirments will be lower in the end :)

If the RX 570 can crank out 1080p 30 fps then I reckon the GTX 1060 will be good for at least 45 fps.

the gtx 1060 isn't 50% faster than the rx 570, especially if it's the 3GB model, then they are equally as good.
