Disney recently announced a new games division, which would allow developers outside of EA to create their own Star Wars titles. Despite that, EA said they will continue to develop more games in that universe, and recently announced they are working on 3 more games in the Star Wars Universe with famed studio Respawn.
We’ve known for a while that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 was in development already, and the announcement reaffirms they are still working on it. However, EA also revealed that Respawn is working on a Star Wars FPS, as well as overseeing a Star Wars Strategy game by developer Bit Reactor.
“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn,” VP of Lucasfilm Games, Douglas Reilly, said. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”
There are unfortunately no details on the projects at the moment, so it’s unclear whether the FPS title will be a single-player adventure, or another multiplayer shooter. Either way, Respawn’s pedigree in FPS games is no stranger to us, as they have worked on the cult Titanfall series as well as the hugely successful Apex Legends Battle Royale.
“Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,” said the Game Director at Respawn, Peter Hirschmann, who worked on the original and much-loved Battlefront games. It is stated that Hirschmann and his team have only just started on the project.
The Strategy title is also a mystery at the moment, but Bit Reactor is made up of many veterans from Firaxis, including Greg Foersch who was the Art Director on XCOM 2. It’s unclear how much Respawn is involved in the project, but Foersch recently stated the studio is focusing on “really blurring that line between what a strategy game is and what an action game is.”

Or another multiplayer shooter? And is the market too saturated in Star Wars games already? Or are you enjoying the wealth of content coming? Let us know!
