As we’ve said a few times now already, 2022 is looking to be a big year for gaming, and with January coming to an end it’s now time to look towards the next month and what it has in store for us. Fortunately for us, February 2022 does not disappoint and has some seriously highly anticipated games releasing in just a few weeks.

The first notable February launch is of course, Dying Light 2, one of the most anticipated games of 2022 overall, followed closely behind by Elden Ring. There’s also a major PlayStation release with Horizon Forbidden West, but it’s not coming to PC (...yet). And who could forget about Total War: Warhammer 3, GRID Legends, Lost Ark, and the Life is Strange Remastered Collection.

So without further ado, here are the biggest games coming out in February 2022…

--------------

Life is Strange Remastered Collection - February 1st / PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia

--------------

Dying Light 2 - February 4th / PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One

--------------

Lost Ark - February 11th / PC

--------------

Total War: Warhammer 3 - February 17th / PC

--------------

Horizon Forbidden West - February 18th / PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4

--------------

GRID Legends - February 25th / PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One

--------------

If you’re planning on picking up any of these games then you can vote for them in the poll below. Unfortunately we still can’t do multiple votes just yet, so just pick which one you’re most excited for and then let us know of any others in the discussion area below! And of course, let us know if you think we missed any other big games coming out this month!

Forbidden West isn't coming to PC? Why? We love them Sony games and Sony doesn't make money on hardware sales so there is no reason to hold back. I amgine the storm it would kick up if Sony just came out and said oh yeah we are dropping it on PC too!

Its kind of common sense why it isn't coming to Pc yet, they want people to buy it for the Ps4 and 5 first, im sure after few years it will come to Pc when there not getting much money from the consoles versions

Few Years? But I just finished Zero Dawn on PC and I would like to play its sequel. People on PS5/PS4 who don't have a gaming PC are going top buy it on console anyway. And for people who are rich enough to have the latest console and a banging PC, what difference does it make? They are also going to buy it on either system so Sony makes a sale either way right.

While I'm 100% with you on all that (I just finished GoW and I WANT Ragnarök on PC as well!) - it just won't happen.

You just know that some people will be buying a PS4/PS5 to play these exclusives. That means Sony sold extra hardware and locked in new customers into the ecosystem (and if you bought a PS5 - you're probably gonna buy a few other games, as is the case with most people). Every sale on their platform will net them that sweet 30% publisher cut (or whatever the deal is with a studio). On PC that cut goes to Steam/Epic first, then whatever Sony commands after that.

Think about Apple Inc - hardware isn't their primary business - it's software (their ecosystem services + appstore cut). But how do you make billions on the software? By giving people the hardware to use the (exclusive) software on!

In an ideal world - sure, I'd want the PC to get these games day1 with the consoles - and I bought GoW fresh off the press on Steam to show that we WANT those games on PC. But these are Sony's exclusives and, sadly, they are prioritizing their own coffers and pinching pennies there FIRST, only then they will give us the games on PC as a second wave of sales. And this happens a few years later for a reason - to give ample time for people to buy those consoles/games from Sony first, while they're fresh.

As sad and stupid as it sounds to me as a PC gamer with ZERO interest in home consoles - I have to accept the way it is. For example, Sony funded and took a massive bet on the new GoW reboot when Santa Monica was struggling (they were working on a new IP that got canned, layoffs happened, etc). Sony threw millions at them and Cory's vision (despite the franchise being...fairly dead, with the last garbage release in 2013), let them expand the staff, move to a huge new studio and make the game. If all that hadn't happened - the masterpiece that is Dad of Boy most likely wouldn't have come out at all. If it's between waiting a couple of years to play a masterpiece on PC and NOT having that masterpiece at all - I'll take the wait.

In an ideal world such art would be enjoyed by everyone, but it takes a crapload of cash to make that art and those funding it have the final say on where and when it comes out. I hate it, but I can see why it is how it is.

P.S.: There is a very interesting documentary on Dad of Boy and how it was made. There was a part when Mr Sony Interactive (Shuhei Yoshida) came over to Santa Monica for a visit and he hated what he saw initially. Changes had to be made. Great thing, at the end - we got a masterpiece out of that.

I feel ya. I'm PC-only and got addicted to HZD after it released on PC. When I first heard it was getting a sequel, I was psyched, but then totally bummed when I realized it'd probably be 2+ years before I'd see it. (Maybe less, now that they've made it clear they plan to port their exclusives over time....but still at least 1 year, I'd imagine).

Personally, Forbidden West, but I've got DL2 in the Steam library already and will get Elden Ring some time this first half of the year.
