In a surprise announcement, Bohemia Interactive has revealed the next installment in the hugely popular Arma series. That's right, Arma 4 is officially coming... at some point. Until that day comes though, Bohemia also surprise dropped a smaller-scale spinoff to test the waters with a new engine, known as Arma Reforger and is available now in Early Access.

Arma Reforger will be using the brand new enfusion engine, as the groundwork for Arma 4 which will likely release in a year or two's time. Thankfully, the developers have revealed the official Arma Reforger PC specs and they're not as demanding as you would think.

So with that said, let's take a look at the official Arma Reforger PC system requirements...

Arma Reforger minimum system requirements

*Some specs only listed Intel/Nvidia hardware and no AMD equivalents. SO we have chosen the closest matching AMD components based on the hardware descriptions provided. Let us know if you think there are better alternatives!

Arma Reforger requires at least a GTX 1070 Ti or RX Vega 56 graphics card, paired with either a Core i7-6700 or Ryzen 5 1600 processor in order to meet the recommended system requirements likely running on High graphics settings at 1080p resolution, which should then achieve around 60fps performance. You will also need 16GB of RAM to meet the recommended specs.

Arma Reforger needs a GPU that is at least as powerful as a GTX 1650 or RX 470 coupled with a Core i5-4460 or FX-4300 CPU to match the minimum system requirements. This PC setup will then likely deliver around 30fps performance on Low graphics settings at 1080p resolution. A minimum of 8GB of system memory is required.

Overall, looking at the specs above we suggest around a 5 year old PC in order to play Arma Reforger at its best.

As ever, remember you can always check out how well your PC can run the Arma Reforger System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarks and performance from other users. Compare your graphics card to the Arma Reforger GPU benchmark chart and we also have a Arma Reforger Frames Per Second system performance chart for you to check.

Does it look more like Battlefield/COD in terms of movement, shooting etc, or is it just me? Not that it's a bad thing all in all, but it does seem different than the more realistic sluggish ArmA style.

I hope so. the movement in the ARMA series has always been awful. I would like something far more responsive.

I have mixed feelings about this. From what I've seen/heard from others it's heading in a good direction and a lot of issues people had with ARMA 3 have been addressed. But a lot of people are getting the "feeling" that it's essentially paying £25 for early access game that is just a test for ARMA 4. Of course, the devs are saying it'll be a worthwhile standalone game. But I can't help but be hesitant. I'm not going to pull the trigger (pun intended) just yet.
