Once again the rumor mill is running as the next generation of graphics cards inches closer to our hands. Nvidia is gearing up for the launch of the RTX 40 series, and some new pictures online have allegedly captured the design of the flagship RTX 4090 Ti, complete with a massive heatsink and baseplate.
As always, we should take these images with a pinch of salt. However, they do come from the same online forum that leaked out images for the RTX 3080 design back in June 2020 way before Nvidia had officially announced them or even revealed the design, so the pictures here are more than likely legitimate.

The first major thing worth noting is that the RTX 40 series looks extremely similar to the RTX 30 series design, with that same infinity loop design to it. Crucially though, they’re much bigger this time round, with a massive heatsink to provide coverage for both the GPU and memory dies.
The reason for this is likely that Nvidia will be using the same GDDR6X memory, but with higher-spec chips, and so will end up needing better cooling. That, and coupled with reports that the RTX 40 series could reach over 100 TFLOPS of performance and require around 450-600W of power, a lot of extra cooling will be essential for the next-gen GPUs.

Based on the size of the heatsink itself, the RTX 4090 Ti might even become a 4-slot card. The RTX 30 series saw the introduction of some monster 3-slot cards, so going even bigger for the flagship GPU of the RTX 40 series seems pretty likely. Though it could still end up being a 3-slot card if these are still early designs.
That said, these pictures have come out a bit earlier than expected based on the leaks for the RTX 30 series back in June/July 2020, and of all the rumors already it doesn’t sound like an RTX 4090 Ti will be part of the initial lineup. It could be that they are just early designs, or it could be a sign that Nvidia really is planning to launch the RTX 40 series as early as July.
What do you think? Are you excited about the RTX 40 series? What do you think of the alleged design? Do you like the same design as the RTX 30 series? Or would you have preferred a different design this time round? And do you think the RTX 4090 Ti looks too big as a GPU? How many slots do you think it will take up? Let us know your thoughts!

If the 4090ti is as big as i picture it then i might consider console gaming at some point :/

Whatever happened to power and heat efficiency? I'd rather have 3090 Ti performance with half the power cost than this. I'll be skipping the 4000 series anyway since I hardly push the 3080 with the games I play, plus I'll see a significant performance boost by upgrading my CPU later down the line.

Guess it wont fit in my itx case lol

Looking at my 3090 - I think this will remain a 3-slot, but who knows how small or big those chinese hands are :D

Will you be getting a 4090 or 4090ti? or will just wait and see if there is over 50% perf increase?

Depends on the price at this point. If the 4090Ti or whatever will be like 2K - screw that. Obviously I'd want the better one, whichever is the top model, but the price still needs to make sense.

Thats good, im considering getting a 4080ti if it gets twice the FPS of my 3070 hopefully it has 16gb this time.
