Activision’s usual marketing technique for Call of Duty has once again graced us with the official reveal trailer for the next COD game in the franchise, awkwardly titled Modern Warfare 2. We finally got our first look at the upcoming game - at least for the Campaign - and confirmation that pre-orders will get early access to the Beta (as usual) and even a Steam release.
The reveal for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 didn’t include actual gameplay, but we did get a sneak peek at the official campaign with returning characters. Perhaps the biggest surprise announcement is that Call of Duty will finally be returning to the Steam store starting with Modern Warfare II, but no confirmation on previous titles that haven’t come to Steam yet.
Some more details include an “evolved Special Ops experience”, along with confirmation on Call of Duty Warzone 2 launching later this year soon after the release of MW2, as well as a unified engine across the series starting with Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Plus, Ricochet anti-cheat will be available on day 1 for MW2 and Warzone 2.0.
Launching on October 28th later this year, COD MW2 is the sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Since then the last 2 COD games haven’t quite generated as much buzz as Infinity Ward’s reboot did, so understandably the sequel is highly anticipated. Hopefully we’ll see some more gameplay tomorrow during Summer Game Fest 2022, as Activision is an official partner.
What do you think? Are you excited for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2? What did you think of the reveal trailer? Will you be playing the campaign when MW2 launches? And when do you think we’ll see some multiplayer gameplay? Let us know!

They should make MW and Vanguard available on steam as well, and a way for people to redeem who already bought on BNet. I am tired of having separate launchers for different games.

I was looking forward to the campaign (yes I am one of those) but at $70 I think I am good. There are better games out there like Guardians of the Galaxy which I recently played and had a smile the whole time I played it.

Activision being greedy like always. It's great that it's on Steam, but the pricing... $90 dollars in my region and that's 264% over the Valve Suggested Pricing in my region. Was thinking of getting it when I saw the news, but definitely not at that pricing and definitely not anymore.

So...would that be Steam-only or double-bagged with Bnet..? xD
