The highly anticipated game, Watch Dogs, has already showed off some stunning graphical possibilities in previous trailers.

As such, we are not entirely surprised to hear that the game is not (yet) in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3..

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, stated in an interview with InsideGamernl that they are currently working on the PC and next-gen version of the game, at Ubisoft Montreal. Once development has finished, Watch Dogs may be ported to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Guillemot: "We will give more information in a later stadium about what we will do with all the different console-launches. Obviously we want to get the best out of the consoles and we see a lot of potential for our games on the next-gen consoles."

He continues:"At this moment a team is working hard on a next-gen and PC version of Watch Dogs. After that other teams will see how we can bring it to the current generation consoles. Perhaps we will show the two different versions over at E3."

Development

Yves also touches the subject of development and porting of the next-gen consoles. A thing to note is that he states that their upcoming games will be developed for the PC, and after that ported over to the next-gen consoles. In the past, this has always been the opposite. Due to this, the expected optimization and performance of upcoming (Ubisoft) games should be a lot better.

Guillemot also states that they will fully use the capabilities of the PlayStation 4, as opposed to just polishing their games.

Looking back at Ubisoft's promise earlier, do you think this is a step in the right direction?

Your GPU doesn't stack up to the HD 7850.

Ah. A simple comment like that is nice. But Are Consoles gonna be using such a gpu alongside an 8-Core processor and still keep costs affordable. I don't think so.

I am glad that they are taking a step towards what they promised because games for the last period of time for PC made by Ubisoft werent up to the standards. Cant wait to try it on PC and PS4 as well.

There is NO WAY this game will not also come out for the PS3 and XB360. Ubi is throwing a lot of money at the development (look for a ridiculous amount of marketing for the game beginning in the next few months), and they need to sell as many units as possible. The biggest market for them is the XB360 and PS3. Sure, it will move a lot of units on PC, but not enough to make it really worth their while. Only a small fraction of console sales will come from the PS4 SKU.
.
I'll bet Ubi is hoping this will become a new franchise like Assassin's Creed was for the current gen. If Watch Dogs is successful this fall, I would not at all be surprised if they alternate annual releases between this and Assassin's Creed for the PS4 and XB720 generation.
