CD Projekt Red aren't feeling tame; they're already deep into development of The Witcher 3, and are pulling in talent for another huge open world game, Cyberpunk 2077.
As part of their design, they are planning to add unannounced "Multiplayer features" to Cyberpunk 2077, but won't say if there will be any multiplayer for the Witcher 3...
With Cyberpunk 2077 not being based on a single character, the size of the open world immediately opens up; whereas in The Witcher 3 you are sometimes limited in your actions for story reasons (you can't kill random civilians), Cyberpunk 2077 has no such storyline limitations.
There is also word that "Cyberpunk will have different character classes". Few single-player games have character classes, which leads one to think we could be looking at a more MMO like experience, although it's too early to tell.
When comments were made to the developers about a Witcher MMO, the idea was dismissed, mentioning that it would be impossible to have multiple Geralts running around. However, CD Projekt Red have said that they want to do more games in the rich storyline setting of the Witcher world; an Elder Scrolls Online equivalent may not be out of the question, although it would almost certainly depend on how well TESO is recieved.
At a guess, Co-op could well be a feature that may end up in the Witcher 3; it still allows you to stay tightly to the story, while spreading the fullfilling experience, and adding massively to the gameplay possiblities.
So, do you think we'll see any multiplayer in The Witcher? Are you expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to be an MMO? Tell us below.
