Last year, the Defense Grid devs (Hidden Path Entertainment) put together a kickstarter to make a sequel to their happily successful tower defence game.

They funded enough for a DLC, but not the full sequel; until an investor stepped in with the rest of the needed funding...

The devs are very happy to be making a sequel, and are actively seeking input from not just the kickstarter backers, but the entire community. And to show that they care, they are giving all of the kickstarter backers free copies of Defense Grid 2 when it releases, early next year.

We have no idea who this mystery backer is, who will have had to put in around $750,000 according to the kickstarter requirements. Of course, you may remember a similar mystery backer appearing for Age Of Wonders 3...

Defense Grid 2 will be a full sequel to Defense Grid: The Awakening, with a continued storyline, more towers, more enemies, and coop/competitive multiplayer modes. There will also be a level editor, allowing you to create maps for your friends and share them online.

You guys all needed another tower defense game right? What do you think of DG2? Who is the mystery backer?

EA gave them the money, that's why they're laying people off.
