Arc System Works has recently announced their upcoming game Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN, which is the successor to the fighting game, Guilty Gear 2: Overture.

Previously, Arc System Works was involved in developing Persona 4 Arena and BlazBlue, and they announced this 3D game at their Silver Jubilee event in Japan...

They immediately provided a reveal trailer of the game:

This trailer shows the two main protagonists of the series: Bounty Hunter Sol Badguy and the Holy Order Warrior, Ky Kiske. In the clip, they are using their signature moves (same as the previous game) to have their usual bouts of aggression. Millia Rage and Eddie are also shown in the trailer.

The game will use Cel-Shaded 3D polygons to overpower the 2D look. This does not affect the gameplay, and it seems that the screen will continuously move around or zoom in when the players execute special moves. These effects will look similar to those in Street Fighter IV. For all this fun, the game will be powered by Epic's Unreal Engine. Guilty Gear has witnessed 3D effects earlier in the franchise, so this is not the first time it is having 3D gameplay.

Since the last Guilty Gear game in 2009 (for Europe), Arc System Works moved their attention towards other fighting game series like BlazBlue: Which resembled Guilty Gear, and Atlus’ Persona 4 Arena. Work on the Guilty Gear franchise was put on hold after the game got too hardcore for some fans. Previously, Sega had the rights to the Guilty Gear franchise, but recently Arc System Works got it back - hence the new game.

Arc System Works has not announced a release date for the game. They didn't technically announce the platforms during the event either, but later Toshimichi Mori (director of BlazBlue) unveiled that they are working on a PS4 title.

So, is ASW's unnamed PS4 game Guilty Gear, or something completely different? Are any of you guys fans of the series? Tell us below!
