Call of Duty: Ghosts, as expected, has had a load of details dropped last night, although they were a little overshadowed by the Xbox One.

There's a release trailer on top of this new information, including the fact that the game is being made on a completely new engine...

The game starts with the attack from an Ultranationalist group on the USA, leaving the US military crippled. You are part of an elite group; the only tactical squad that survived. The game will feature 3 playable characters, much like in the previous Call Of Duty games. You also have a dog at your side, who will help in breaching enemy positions and stealth recon of your objective. The dog, as you can see in the trailer, looks very realistic - because it's actually been mo-capped in the same way as the actors!

Take a look at the trailer:

The AI has been fully remade and now enemies will try to find innovative ways to off you. In most games a particular spawned enemy will attack or flank a particular character. But this has been upgraded in this installment and now they can flank you from multiple directions and even lay down traps to catch you. The environment has many new interactable portions, which the AI will use intelligently - so you'll have to stay one step ahead!

The game is looking rather stunning, with their new engine really showing off it's power during last night's presentation. Every aspect of the environment can be interacted with.

Multiplayer games can now support 64 max players (an increase from 32 players on the previous console). The matches can have real time natural calamities like earthquakes and avalanches, which combine well with the destructible terrain that the game will have.

So, are you excited for this next release in the series? Will the Xbox One do the game justice, and does the game make a good enough use of the system? Tell us your thoughts!

To all of you who think that graphics on this engine are no better than on previous games,YOU ARE WRONG........What we seen so far is tiny part of not yet completed engine. They are buliding this one from the scratch and it will probably look like bf3 which is realy, realy good...

Is it me or the game has nothing new concerning graphics.I mean there might be more advanced AI and lighting but anything else is the same as the previous CODS.

as these are prerenderd images the graphics shown dont represent the ones that will be seen in the game
expect the game to look like battlefield 3.5(between 3 and 4)
also the game doesnt entirely have to be about graphics man, the concept of you as the underdogs now is nice

I know I do not care that much about graphics.I am more interested for the story and gameplay. However there is a real fuss out on the web about cods new engine, which is basically the same as the old one, just a bit updated and more beautiful, but still it is outdated visuallu for todays standards

actually the engine has been designed from the ground up to support tress fx and physx and all the AA techniques required
so it will be good to see how they integrate it into the game

Oh ok Tero didnt know that thx.But I guess if you use tress fx with nvidia it will criple the perfomance like it happens to amds with physx

As Tero pointed out, it would be unlikely for one game to use both PhysX and TressFX, since both are featured tech of NVIDIA and AMD, respectively. It's not that they cannot be used together, it's that one company would not allow the other's tech to appear with it, from a marketing/branding standpoint.
And, about TressFX: it's a really basic subset of the kind of thing PhysX does. It strings particle nodes together to form strands of hair, and the nodes react to physics in a realistic fashion. PhysX is also, for the most part, a physics engine that specializes in particles. With my NVIDIA GPUs, I ran TressFX with no real performance hit in Tomb Raider, especially after NVIDIA released an optimized driver for the game.
PhysX, on the other hand, is much tougher on AMD cards. PhysX is an NVIDIA tech which processes extra physics effects/flourishes in the GPU (and not an already-busy CPU). AMD cards send the effects to the CPU (which is already loaded), and that's why it does not work very well for AMD GPUs.

I might be alone in thinking this, but I think I'm ready for CoD to go back to WWII. I'm getting so sick of the "modern combat" games, and I'd like to see WWII through the eyes of all these new next-gen engines.

Maybe EA should take Medal of Honor back to WWII. That would be the best way to separate it from CoD since it's very obvious that Warfighter did not stand a chance in the modern combat FPS subgenre. I think what EA's studios have been doing with the Frostbite engine is pretty impressive. Say what you want about Warfighter, it was a gorgeous game.

no mission intel no weapons support

the concept is nice

They say it's a new story, but I'm sure Everything got blown up in the previous MW games. The military is always crippled, and is always the underdog in all their games. So what's the difference now? Oh yeah..... A dog.

The trailer monologue is hilariously bad. Yeah, we get it you're a tragic necessity of the modern age; the ghosts are haunted by the ghosts of their past... Dear lord, spare us the moralization, Infinity Ward; we all now the audience doesn't care.

man the story has always been too linear for all cod games and thus we are now used to just surviving in a barrage of gun fire and running for our lives but this time around the devs have put a lot of thought into the story and the least we can do is appreciate them for it
they are moving ahead of the nuclear strike-kill all concept often found in like all fps games

I wasn't talking about the story, I was talking about the monologue. We don't know enough of the story to judge, but if all dialogue will be this 'bad-ass, yet conflicted soldier' crap, I won't care.
