One thing you can say about the size of games today; many of them are constantly updated and added to, keeping players interested for much longer than they would otherwise.

Mostly we see this in MMO style games, but those aren't the only ones; recently we've seen big updates for Ghost Recon Online and God of War: Ascension...

Starting with Ghost Recon Online, which is currently an open beta FTP shooter, and will be upgrading to version 12.0. This update will introduce new map, features and especially bug fixes, which are the most important parts for beta versions.

The update will feature the new Xinyi District map, the largest map designed for the game till now. This new huge map is specially designed for the most loved mode of the game, Conquest mode. The Phantom pack is also being added, and includes Phantom-themed weapons and items. Of course, there's the usual bunch of new graphics and features, including the signature single-eye AR displays and realistic shell ejection. A lot of bugs have also been fixed, as you would expect.

The game is currently in open beta in NA and Europe. When Ubisoft was asked about releasing in other areas, they said they don't currently have any plans to do so.

Moving on to the main attraction, God of War Ascension. The game is going to get a new patch, update 1.09, which will introduce a new mode called Bout of Honor, a 1v1 duel mode. In this new game mode, players will be fighting against each other without any extra support such as from chests, or fountains; although it will allow player's magic to regenerate. They will need to punish each other for a total of seven rounds to find the victor.

This round comes along with four new maps - the Canyons of Kirra, the Chamber of the Flame, the Landing at Delos, and the Streets of Sparta. On top of these four, one more map will be introduced to the game through the patch, called Whirlpool of Alecto. This new map will feature a water-based stage and a giant leviathan. Devs have also reported that they have finally made balancing tweaks and removed the infinite combos that many found game-breaking.

SCE is asking all those who try this update to post their feedback on this thread. The participating players will get the Mark of the Gods pack of digital goods.

So, are you interested in these new updates? How do you think the Duels will work in God of War? Tell us below!

I might try the new Ghost recon online patch, the last time I played the game the player base was very low but the gameplay was pretty decent. Hope it has more players now ...

I played it when there was the Assassins Pack and the game was awesome but too bad it was very difficult and boring to upgrade yourself using only RP. It was very annoying!
