Gamescom is even more lively than E3, because you guys, real fans of the games, are so excited to be there that you will happily dress up and look awesome turning it the place into a carnival of much loved game characters....

Gamescom, this year, is going to be extra special. With Sony and Microsoft set to provide exclusive hands-on time with their next-gen consoles to the public, along with new game announcements from a variety of developers - it's all going to happen here, at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

Gamescom 2013 will be held from August 21 to August 25.

The trade fair opens to everyone from August 22 onwards, with the first day being exclusively for trade visitors and the media. Hey thats us and by extension YOU! So visiting here will be like an all access pass to the hub of the gaming goodness.

Gamescom's Entertainment Area will open to everyone and will include Halls 6 - 10.

Here's the time table for the general public:

Gamescom is the world's biggest trade fair. Right up there with Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). Together they make up the world's grandest gaming destinations - for gamers and developers alike! This year, Gamescom has over 635 exhibitors, ready to headline the next generation of interactive hardware, software and entertainment to the games community. An estimated 275,000 visitors will grace the fair and get first taste of their favorites...

The exhibitors list includes some of the biggest names from our industry: Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, Bethesda Softworks, Bigpoint, Deeep Silver/Kock Media, Electronic Arts, Konami, NCSOFT, Riot Games, Ubisoft, Wargaming and Warner Bros. AK Tronic, Astrogon, Bigben Interactive, BitComposer, Caseking, CD Projekt, Fishlabs, Flashpoint, Gaya Entertainment, Kalypso Media, Korea Creative Content Agency, Mad Catz, Medion, Nvidia, Razer, Roccat, UKIE ad Turtle Entertainment among others: Each assigned to their respective Halls/booths.

Gamescom has also widened there arms in welcoming more international business. This year's partner country is France, one of the biggest gaming markets in the world. Along with other countries, they will be able to showcase their companies to more than 24,500 trade visitors. This will take place in the business area located in Halls 4 and 5.

Then there's the Game Developers Conference (GDC) and the Gamescom City Festival to round off the fair. Both ready to highlight interactive entertainment. The eagerly awaited eSport tournaments will take place in Hall 8 where the best players will battle for one another for prize-money, fame and honor. This, no doubt, is the Mecca of all players in the interactive gaming and entertainment sectors.

And the last day of the fair, Sunday, will be the Family Day. Here, the fair invites families with children so they get to know our industry better. From games to fringe programmes, everything is ensured so they have a great time. Nintendo will, again, play host and with all their novelties in the family entertainment sector, everyone present is guaranteed to have a fun-filled day. This will take place in Hall 10.

Here's what some of the Admins are looking forward to at Gamescom:

Felix: Total War: Rome 2

Get...out...of...my way, people! Now where is Rome 2, I havent played it for like 5 weeks and...hey is that Assassins Creed 4 over there? Hmmm I think I will just have a little play on...Wait is that The Witcher 3 next to the new XBox One next to GTA V next to the PS4...[BOOOM - Head Explodes]

Tero: The Sims 4

I was a bit late for the party but Sims 4 really tickles my fancy. Been playing the franchise ever since the first game was released and there's just something magical about controlling your family through the years. Let's just hope they'll fix the damn game engine...
It's also great to see the non-AAA games getting coverage and especially Peggle 2 looks promising. I've played every single game in the series and the next one is a must-buy for me. If you haven't played any Peggles, you should really try them now. That's an order ;)

TaheRookie: The Witcher 3

I'm looking forward to a lot from Gamescom this year. The Witcher 3, Total War Rome 2, GTA 5, PlayStation 4-Vita's integration and it's (hopefully, many) exclusives. Oh, and all in-game trailers please! Cinematics will irk me... I'll definitely watch the key notes from Sony and Microsoft and also watch GDC. I have a feeling Nintendo's showing is going to be strong and surprising. They have to pick up before the former two annihilate it come year-end. And a small dose of potshots is something I wont mind either. Keeps the fun factor alive... All in all, I think we'are going to be very busy this coming week.. :)

Raystlyn: Assassin's Creed IV - Black Flag

Gamescom brings excitement once again to the gaming world. This year, my most expected console is undoubtedly PlayStation 4. As a PC gamer, hardware is vital, and the PS4 seems to pack the most punch this time around. At the same time, the game I am most looking forward to is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. At first it seemed like a rushed announcement back then, but now the Assassin's Creed appeal arised again, can't wait to experience a Pirate's life. Ubisoft is coming strong, with Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell: Blacklist also on their schedule.

Cham0d: Grand Theft Auto 5

Only game that I'm excited to see in Gamescom would be Grand Theft Auto V. That's about it.

Tzzsmk: ARMA 3

Generally Microsoft vs Sony console deathmatch gonna be interesting for sure; Sony conference on 20th Aug at 20 o'clock, some PS4 games; on the other hand Microsoft will "re-introduce" Xbox One with all the changed features;also EA on 20th at 16 o'clock, pitifully no Ubisoft;
and must not forget ARMA3, Witcher3, GTA5, and maybe Valve with new Source 2 engine...
there's much to arrive =Đ

Maddan2012: Grand Theft Auto 5

I guess GTA V would be my top favorite, then it would be WWE2K14, Watch_Dogs. The console I'm most excited for has to be the PS4. I'd never buy the Xbox One even though it's changed a lot for the better, it will still be a PS4 regardless.
I'm even still more excited about GTA V than the PS4 :)

Warmice: The Witcher 3

E3’s little brother, Gamescom, has arrived to my beautiful neighbors over at Germany once again. Continuing the epic gaming year that 2013 is, with the next-gen consoles and associated titles, we hope to see some more of the capabilities and opportunities for the upcoming games. That being said, the PlayStation 4 will be the console I’ll have my eyes on. Not only because of Microsoft’s policy, but also because I got into console gaming with my good ol’ PlayStation 2. I made a trip to the Xbox 360, and while I had nothing to complain, the PlayStation just feels right.
The design of the PlayStation looks a lot more appealing to me than that of the Xbox, and that is not all. We all know the list now, lower price-tag, no region-lock, etc. And while Microsoft have adjusted their policy, Sony just made a more professional impression to me, playing their cards just right; giving the player what he/she wants, and expects. My most anticipated game will be The Witcher 3. Whilst it won’t see the day of light in 2013, it’s still something I would love to see more content off. The adventurous medieval-fantasy setting never fails me, and pare that with my first game-priority –a good solid storyline, preferably based off of a novel series (which The Witcher happens to be)- and you’ve made yourself a good candidate for my most anticipated game. The Witcher 3 it is. As a proud PC-gamer, the Total War series is also one I’m most interested in. Once again the medieval or history-themed aspect comes back, but then with some pc-exclusive controls and opportunities. Even though this masterpiece is near it’s release, I’m certain will get to see some more of it at Gamescom 2013. Speaking of the PC-pride, I can’t help but hope to see a glimpse of Blizzard’s new project (titan). No one can deny World of Warcraft was, and is, a masterpiece, and as the history has shown it seems only Blizzard is up to the task to take down their own colossus, with a titan. However, with the push back to 2016, any details about project titan seem highly unlikely.
And of course I’m looking forward to write my ass off on all the surprises this Gamescom will bring. Because surprises are the fun part of gaming events, be it a new IP or a newly designed feature, I’m ready to sit back and be amazed.

Shivamkumarjha: Need for Speed - Rivals

I basically love EA and their titles. I'm desperately waiting for getting my hands on the NFS: Rivals and Battlefield 4. FIFA games are just a mess&goo for me as I hate football. Talking about Sony's conference, I don't like anything they are coming up with this time. Though I may take a look at the Driveclub and I seriously don't care a bit about that LittleBigPlanet 3. Ahh, Microsoft they are not good at making consoles, I think, and just mad at pricing them so I don't expect anything good from Xbox One. Their games, are just like their consoles though some are interesting but not more than the other titles. Nintendo, leave them. Ubisoft has promised some new IPs this time, but as they are not revealed I will be eagerly waiting to hear them :) I don't like Square Enix titles, except few. There are other good titles also but I'm not excited for them...

So GD'ers, we'd love to know your favorites for Gamescom as well so let us know in the comments below and have some awesome debates! Get ready!
