Star Citizen has picked up an outrageous amount of crowd funding during its development, and backers are soon going to get their first taste of the game.

The hanger module will be fully explorable, and you can even get into your ships and explore them - but there's no flying implemented yet...

The hangers are currently single player only, but multiplayer, customisation and dogfighting are all on the (very long) list of things to do. The devs are hopeful that they will at least be able to get the dogfighting mode out by this winter, to give people a chance to fly their ships for Christmas.

If you want to know if it will look as good as the trailers will lead you to believe, have a look at the gameplay from Gamescom, thanks to pcgames.de. The playable hanger module will be out on Thursday the 29th of August.

As open world space games go, Star Citizen is looking incredibly strong; although of course still a long way off being finished. Are any of you guys backers of the game? How eager are you to get out there and dogfight? Tell us below!

This game looks extremely promising. I know it's a way off, but I think it'll be a game I pick up.

'Star Citizen' is promising a lot! And I for one think it looks great! For anyone who hasn't already visited the game's website yet, the articles and videos are worth a watch. weblink (http://robertsspaceindustries.com)
Although I'm a small-time backer, I'm not sure I'm ready to double down and pre-order a ship just to look at in the hanger yet. Maybe once the dog-fighting module is released.
