So Gamescom 2013 has come to a close, and with that the show's official awards have been announced for all to hear.
We've seen some of the most anticipated titles of the year at the show, but which ones were good enough to take home the prizes? Find out below...
This Gamescom has been an undeniable success story. Going by the official reports, the event drew more than 340,000 people, of which 6,000 were media; compare this to last year, which saw nearly 275,000 visitors, an increase of 23 percent year-over-year. These are mighty figures, and it just goes to show why Gamescom is just a big deal - in Europe and around the world.

The are a lot of familiar games in the list. Destiny was the most successful of the lot with 3 awards; Titanfall, The Elder Scrolls Online and Mario Kart 8 each grabbed 2 awards. For us PC enthusiasts, Battlefield 4 was acclaimed to be the best offering, and not many people will argue with that!
Now for the award everyone was excited to hear about was arguably the hardware department: the PlayStation 4 vs the Xbox One. The former console has once again bested the competition, although the response to both next-gen consoles was incredibly positive.

I had alot of fun there this year. Can't wait for next years GamesCom. I took my Shield to the Nvidia show floor and when the staff saw me with it they gave me hats, t-shirts, and little rubber Nvidia ducks.

awesome, seems like a good time! I prefer vita over shield, the fact that you will be able to play borderlands 2 on the vita without streaming on a gtx PC, the software support will boost sales, I hope to get one in ma life.

t make me laugh. miyamoto promised a new zelda game for 3ds and this is what we get, a cheap knock off of ALTTP he should have just stuck with what the fans wanted at first which was Majoras Mask 3D but no he ignored the request which he was aware of and decided to do A link between worlds :( very disappointedPC Specs

Oh I know MM would be a remake and I have OoT3D (which I believe is an immensely good showing of how good the 3DS could actually be) but if Zelda is struggling as a franchise just playing the same old tune over and over (please don't bring COD into this ;) ) wouldn't sales slowly start to decline ending in the series' downfall? I'm not saying that Zelda will decline and I believe Miyamoto has cleverly thought out the concept of A Link Between Worlds. If the game literally is a knock off of the original and not a "true sequel" then I will step down from my arguement, I just believe that he wanted to give fans something "new" instead of another remake on the 3DS. Just like he is remaking The Wind Waker to test the power of the Wii U.

I found The Division to be a lot more interesting. The fact that I just despise Bungie might be a factor (so many stupid statements from them that I just can't see myself liking the company any time soon. revolutionary jump pads... after q3 came out... ugh)

Destiny is very ambitious. From what I've seen, it's online world and scope seem like a game-changer. But The Division looks damn good too. Again, just the jury.

Yeah, I remember them saying something like "Look at these jump pads - revolutionary way to traverse across the map" or something like that. And that quite a bit after Q3.
Then, ofcourse, there's the whole "Destiny is the best thing ever" thing that pissed me the hell off. I mean, we were supposed to be excited about something that we knew ONLY the title of. I mean come on! And then, when it was finally shown, it felt like a prettier version of Borderlands and Planetside. It's not something completely new, as they kept saying.

I realize that you are supposed to hype people, but there are some limits. The game does look nice and I quite liked what they have shown so far. However, it's not what they screamed it would be :)
So in other words - I quite like the game but really dislike the company.
And as for other games - TW3, Watch Dogs, The Division, Thief and a bunch of others. TW3 probably being the most anticipated, followed by The Division.

I agree, not sure about other sport games but PES was a great competitor this year.
Most importantly Fifa is not coming with the new graphic additions in PS3, Xbox 360 or PC while PES 2014 will... I think we'll have to wait and see to judge.

Well if they take only that into consideration I might even agree, Ignite engine looked better than Fox at least in the trailers. We will see how that competition continues with the 100% games.

I know, I will spend most of the year playing BF 4 that's for sure :P
And that's for sure I'm always looking for alternatives too... even if games are not very well optimized I try to compensate with good hardware and keep myself updated selling my old stuff.
BTW I don't own any consoles, I think I spent pretty much the value of a PS4 in my 770 (not sure since prices are kinda weird in my country) but I regret nothing I just can't love consoles as I love pcs. (I'm a tech support and starter developer)

With BF 4, i think, isnt EA cutting down the playerbase of BF 3
People are still buying BF3, but that will stop as they will now have a graphically better game, so they will shift onto BF 4

I agree with you and that's why I say we have to wait and see, during the trailers they said "this is just replays of an actual match, no rendering or alterations were done", but who knows... I won't believe 'till I see it.
What I believe is that EA showed us something they can't really make during the actual game and Konami showed an 80% completed game that will be fine tuned before releasing.
