Star Citizen is a game that has been teasing us since the Kickstarter last year, with grand promises of spaceship combat, trading, exploration and piracy - all in a fully multiplayer universe.

The game is finally approaching a playable stage, at least in part, and the Hanger module is now available for anyone with a game package...

Once downloaded, you'll be able to walk around the hanger and explore any eligible ships you own (which can be bought separately or as part of the game packages). The module is still in Alpha, with some ships unsupported and some areas unavailable on the larger ships; the Constellation's Bathroom for example.

Apart from the few known bugs, you should be able to explore the nooks and crannies of your ships, and even sit in the cockpits or turrets - although flying and shooting aren't implemented yet.

As a reward for helping to support the game at an early stage, you'll also get another 5000 credits added to your account; for comparison, the basic $30 package comes with 1000 credits, while the most expensive package grants you 20,000 - although with a lot of other assets too.

If you want to look around ships like the one below, you'll have to pledge for one of the packages and download the Hanger module today.

Are any of you guys Star Citizen backers? Are you eager to be able to fly your ships in space? Tell us your thoughts.

the amount of detail is astonishing, imagine what it will be with the oculus. I can't wait to fly my crappy aurora with leather seats :P.

This game looks like EVE: Online with better graphics. I would support it if the 'Squadron 42' single player campaign was long and complete. But I'm afraid Squad 42 will be a short training session that kicks you into the multiplayer universe.

Chris Roberts has said it's not, he's bringing writers from his movies to the singleplayer and want's it to be more than just a training module for the multiplayer, ofc we haven't seen any of this yet but I'm staying positive.
