Rumour: Google And LG To Release Nexus 5 In October

You’re probably sick to death of hearing about iPhone 5s now, I know I am. There is that sort of vague feeling doing the rounds that phones are kind of doing everything we want them to do already.

Nevertheless, ‘The Phone Wars’™ must continue unabated, and so we give you the latest rumours surrounding Google’s inevitable Nexus 5…

For those of you who love your phones vanilla, there really has been no other choice than the buttery smooth Nexus 4, but it seems that Google aren’t content with resting on their laurels with this one as rumours of a Nexus 5 gain traction.

So far, it seems that the Nexus 5 is pencilled in for an October release date. This information is given a lot more credence by the recent slashing of prices for the current Nexus 4 iteration on their official store, suggesting they are trying to clear out stock.

We brought you the news last week that the next iteration of Android software would be Kitkat (4.4), in collaboration with Nestle, and the Nexus 5 looks to be the first device to run it. Kitkat unfortunately isn’t the 5.0 that we’d all love to see, and details are pretty thin on the ground as to exactly what it brings to the table.

LG are the strongly rumoured partner who will be creating the phone, after suspicions were aroused when a Google employee was accidentally filmed taking pictures with a not-before-seen Nexus device, bearing the LG logo.

After LG’s success with the Nexus 4 it comes as little surprise and interest was peaked when LG filed an FCC for a new phone, dubbed the D820. According to the report which was spotted last week, it comes packing a 5 inch display, as well as a Snapdragon CPU that could see it pack quite a punch.

So there we have it, all the details we can pull together just yet for the upcoming Nexus 5. It's sure to be a must-have device for Android and Google fans out their as the preferable stock device.

No word on the pricing just yet but we'd expect it to come it around a similar price to the Nexus 4 was at launch, give or take, expect it to launch for around £299/$349-399 when it comes in October.

Are you waiting to pick one of these up once they hit?

Do you think that stock Android is the only way to go?

The 16gb model originally retailed for $349 so it's expected to be around that figure, give or take
