An Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has buccaneered its way onto our doorstep this afternoon, detailing the graphical differences between the current and next-gen versions of Ubisoft's flagship title.

You'll be pleased to know that the next Assassin's outing does look reassuringly lovely; there are a number of features which have piqued our interest for when this title lands on our shores...

The first up is the all new water physics system in place, couple with the claim that it's the most realistic ocean we'll have ever seen. Virtually of course, and it's difficult to argue with them; it uses the Beaufort scale, which are we are reliably informed is how wind and air pressure affect tidal movements. That definitely sounds nice and next-gen to us, even we may not know exactly how it translates through to gameplay.

This is swiftly followed up by advanced lighting and weather conditions, and aspect which looks hugely interesting. The rain effects in particular look incredibly atmospheric, it really seems to add another level of quality to its environments.

Anyway, that's enough drooling for one day, check the video out below to see it in action for yourself!

What did you think, has it got you excited for the incoming next-gen or are you there already?

Let us know below!

I don't know why but I wasn't disappointed by AC 3, rather it was great except for the part that the history was involved. But I hope black flag won't deal with any history, and of course the graphics look stunning as well as the location chosen and also the gameplay and everything :D

Every AC part ,,deals'' with history...AC1-Fight in the holy land (which happended),AC2 and Brotherhood were set in Renaissance,AC Revelations in Constantinople and AC3 in American revolution........AC4 Black Flag as we all know will be set in time when pirates like Blackbeard lived and some more pirates that are maybe less known...Envolving in history is what makes Assassins Creed even more fun...

That was really amazing and worrying in the same time. All these new features I hope they are well optimized for PC. So, I am not in a situation where theoretically I can run the game on high or very high and find myself running on med or low to med! Hope with me this thing is optimized for PC :D

What settings and what frames you get...? My cousin barely managed 29 fps average on tweaked high on a GTS 450 at 1366x768 and many times it dropped to 17 for a few seconds and shot back up to 30 again...

Everything max except AA(High)1920x1080 ,the gameplay was smoother than the console version, but I didn't check my FPS but it was more than playable, besides I'm not using FRAPS anymore because I think it doesn't like W8 or my PC in general because I was playing NFS World on max settings and got screen tears and the framerate was surely over 60FPS and when I downloaded FRAPS it showed 15FPS and I was like WTF is that all about!

I wouldn't say GTS 450 is a beast compared to newer generations. so I am not surprised about that frame drop for AC3 imo.

GTS 450 is actually comparable to GT 650M which is why I asked him how he runs it... Also FRAPS working fine on my Windows 8 buddy...

17:24 Sep-13-2013

I wouldnt say so, GT 650M is an overall better gpu. The only thing that makes GD them comparable is the ddr3 and gddr5. GT 650M got 2g ram, while your cousin got 1g, which matters alot and it got a better shader, a little bit more Mhz.. So no, i would not say it is really THAT comparable to GT 650M.

17:34 Sep-13-2013

But the GT 650M has a 128 bit bus right so it cannot use the 2 GB VRAM... But I do agree that the shader architecture in the GT 650M is more advanced and better than GTS 450...

17:40 Sep-13-2013

So you are saying that it has 2gb ram, but cannot use it due to the 128 bit? But still they put it there.. That is very hard to imagine.

FRAPS worked perfectly on my old PC,and I know what 15FPS looks like(due to my old pc being a very low end laptop) and the framerate I was getting was surely over 15 on my new pc...

Actually it is a common gimmick - 2 GB version of 128 bit cards and 4 GB version of 256 bit cards are a common gimmick... They offer the same performance but cost more... For example GTX 660 3 GB cannot use full 3 GB of VRAM but performance is identical to 1.5 GB version and GT 640 2 GB cannot use full 2 GB VRAM and performance is identical to 1 GB version... Casual gamers who have little knowledge about GPU architecture get taken in by the 2 GB VRAM label and buy them... With a laptop you have no choice however since the GPU cannot be replaced...

Your cousin has a beast desktop with a GTS 450? He was lucky to be able to run it on high.
He will need a better gpu for this one.
