EA Games boss Patrick Soderlund has brought out the fighting talk as he squares up to Activision.

Soderlandhas said in an interview that he believes that Activision are worried about the success of the Battlefield series, and Soderland says that he won’t give up until he’s beaten Call of Duty…

Competition between between the two franchises has escalated since the release of Battlefield 3 and it looks to get more heated in the build up to the next iterations of both franchises. Battlefield 4 is due out on November 1st, just four days before Call of Duty: Ghosts hits on November 5th.

He went on to say “We don’t look at them necessarily and mimic what they do. But we think about them. Maybe they weren’t thinking about us much when we made Battlefield 3, but I can tell you, they are thinking about us now. They need too. We made a dent in the FPS market and we took share from them. And I am not going to give up until I’m No.1 and I am going to make sure I’m No.1.”

It looks like he’s got quite a fight on his hands if he wants to halt the juggernaut that is Call of Duty, Black Ops II sold 7.5 million copies on launch, going on to gross over $1bn after just 15 days of availability. Despite this, analysts have predicted to Battlefield 4 to sell in excess of 14 million copies across all formats, so this could be much closer than we’re used to.

The Battlefield series has the advantage of not being a yearly franchise like Call of Duty, giving it a chance to have more impact that a yearly update.

As well as this of course, EA also have one of the most hotly anticipated franchises in recent times, Titanfall.

“We have other games now. We have Titanfall, which we didn’t have when we had Medal of Honor. To me it is about a balanced portfolio.”

Between Battlefield 4 and Titanfall it certainly seems like EA have some top quality shooters coming our way, we wonder what Activision has up its sleeve.

Anyway, for now, it's certainly advantage Battlefield.

Which one of these two are you most looking forward to?

Do you think this could be the year that Battlefield finally topples Call of Duty?

The entire debate over which game is better is completely invalid in the first place. Battlefield is and has always been focused on the entire spectrum of the battle on a large scale hence why its name is "BATTLEFIELD" vehicle combat and air combat with a mix of CQC. Call of Duty is and always has been focused on close quarters run and gun FPS battles, its all about run and gun. Even when the cod maps got bigger they still don't compare to the scale of battlefield, yes you can do CQC (close quarters combat) in battlefield in certain game modes but its always been about the entire battlefield experience not CQ. I personally don't play cod but that's because its not my style of FPS but I don't think one is better than the other.

stop fighting EA and Activision plz...all though we also responsible for their fight...two games are different....COD is best for its storyline and optimization..and BF4 multiplayer and graphics quality..my opinion storyline is main thing for a game.....than graphics :)

Why cant we just stop this stupid war of COD vs Battlefield
both games have their disadvantages and advantages and fun in their on way
they aren't even comparable
personally i will play COD for story
and BF4 for multiplayer

well imo they are complety different game types: Cod is fast and has tubers and campers, and battlefield has vehicles ,bigger maps and a sense.

yea cod is arcade fps and bf4 is open world
i dont think you can compare between them
but its true that cod needs to innovate a bit more

BF4 is open world?
I can assure you, BF4s levels will be as linear and constricted CoDs

the maps are quite big and open in bf compared to cod
gives you more tactical freedom and places to go

I think both games to develolp. Battlefield has had the same style for a long time, so has mw2. the gameplay has basically not changed. they only improved graphics and improved a few minor things. Having a new kind of gamplay in both of the games would be fun!

EA should stop leaching off of DICE's success', I know that without EA, DICE probably wouldn't have the servers, finances or advertisement that they do, but way that up against the micro-transacting, P2W nature of EA and their use of Premium, shortcuts for EVERYTHING, rent-a-server, which destroyed my experience of Battlefield, and Online passes, it works out. Well this is just my opinion :D

BF3/4 don't have much microtransactions and you don't have to buy them, there are no ads and it could be MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH worse like Planetside 2. PC people don't get menu's for Rent-A-Server. EA stepped away from online passes you should know that.

BF4 = Ghost Buster
The entire multiplayer video pretty much exploits all of CoD's weaknesses :P

I think it would be a near draw, I enjoy battlefield 3 multiplayer more than I did on call of duty but sometimes when I just feel like running and gunning and going on a killing spree then I would go back to some call of duty

The problem is that these games are aimed at two different audiences. Yes, they are both FPS but that is where it stops really. COD is an arcade fast paced small team chaotic shooter that can be played very effectively lone wolf. BF is a more methodical open and team oriented game that focuses on large scale engagements with vehicles. You just can't compare them.

I see what you mean but I don't think they're mutually exclusive. I've played both over the years, it dpends what mood I'm in. I don't know which I'll pick up this year, but BF4 looks to get my vote so far.

i'm looking forward for both games, BF4 is rather serious and ... let'S say 'realistic' and has tons of dynamic gameplay, whereas CoD is fun for trolling and just shooting throughout the whole map, just my opinion :D

Well honestly Activision should be worried about retaining the #1 spot, but i'll still buy ghost on PS3 it's insanely fun to play with your pals for ****s and giggles (seriously play with a pal, and just equip commando the knife range perk, and let the rage begin xD), but imho BF4 is what BF3 should have been, since they always claimed BF3 to be a destructive action military shooter, but the destruction in BF3 was pretty lackluster, but hey better late than never, I'm definitely looking forward to BF4and Ghosts.

I like CoD for gameplay and BF for insane graphics!

No question Battlefield 4 will beat the Call of Duty Ghost.
So a question to Activision is how greater can it be the
next release from the last release.

i like CoD !
i think the next one "ghost" it will be huge Nvidia got involved!
BF4 as always i will play the story and ends there!
If EA wants to be NR.1 this BF4 it must be masterpiece in terms of gameplay but is hard lets hope so!

Treyarch **** the whole cod frachise up and after that infinityward went downhill following treyarch. battlefield on the other side is getting better and betterafter they dumped danger close they will make bf4 the best fps up to date. though i have spent hundreds of hours at cod 2 and 4. those were the best cods ever. I know that cod will lose after all they totally don't increase graphics in their games even on next gen.
