A new trailer has been released for the imminent trade building simulator Rise of Venice, detailing the trading mechanics of the games economics focused gameplay.

Beware the relaxing tones of the narrator and sound of breaking seawater if you happen to be feeling particularly tired this morning, it is very much NSFW…

Kalypso Media’s upcoming trading sim has you playing as a simple shopkeeper before becoming a powerful international shipping merchant, trading goods with other merchants across various European cities.

Set during the Renaissance, Rise of Venice is very much a tale of decadence and culture, a stark change from your cigar-chomping dictatorial role in Tropico 4.

Of course it won’t all be plain sailing, you’ll be having to contend with swashbuckling pirates, other traders, and of course the vagaries of the economic system. Sounds not too dissimilar to today, come to think of it.
