Ikaruga – the classic cult title by Japanese developer Treasure – has been launched on Steam Greenlight.

The vertical shoot 'em up – which features a polarity-switching game style whereby players switch polarity to absorb bullets of a certain colour – became a cult classic when it was released in 2001, and Treasure's attempt to release a PC version is attracting a lot of attention from fans.

"New challenge! We are trying to distribute Treasure games on Steam." Treasure tweeted last night, implying, perhaps, that Ikaruga will not be the only Treasure title scheduled for potential release on Valve's digital platform.

According to the Greenlight page,“Ikaruga Steam editon is the latest tune-up version based on Xbox360 edition”, and therefore, unsurprisingly, it will support Xbox 360 controllers, as well as having a local 2 player co-op.

What do you think of Treasure releasing on Steam?

Which other treasure titles would you like to see become available?
